The question of how to pray is a common one. Like the disciples, we want to learn to pray to God in a way that honors Him and is rooted in faith. However, is there a wrong and a right way to pray to God? Does praying in the name of Jesus guarantee that we will get what we prayed for as John 14:13-14 seems to imply? Is praying in Jesus’ name the right way to pray? How can we pray in the will of God? In this video Pastor Nelson answers the question, “What does it mean to pray in Jesus' name?”

When we pray in Jesus name, we acknowledge that he is the mediator between God and man.

I have also hear that God will not hear our prayers due to our sinful ways. God will hear prayers from His Son for He is sinless.

Not a bad explanation ! To pray in Jesus name = to pray as him. To be him when you pray. If he is in you ande you are in him, when you pray. Then you pray the right way.

Do you think using the phrase "in Jesus' name" is misused today? I think, at least, it can be mindlessly used. What should be on our minds and in our hearts when we use this phrase?

The Bible tells us in numerous places such as Isaiah 45 that there is one God and none beside him. He further states that he will not give his glory to another. Praying 'in Jesus name' negates the power and glory of God who is our Father, provider, protector. Christ said that he did all things through God and for his glory. He told us to pray to 'Our Father'... Hallowed be thy name .. For you are the kingdom, the power and the glory...forever. He did not say to pray to him. Please explain.

This doesn't say anything about praying in the name of Jesus son of Mary...The book of Manners, clearly says:
Give unto Him the "Father" all of the Praises, for I myself am not worthy of that which is given unto Him who is above the HEAVENS...

His Name was NOT "Jesus" though! It was YESHUA, meaning "salvation."
I do believe we shouldn't be 'superstitious' about 'magical formulas' as you say, but if we know what the Saviour's actual given Name is, I feel it accords Him some respect to use that as opposed to some transmogrified substitute. Every knee will bow before that Name one day.
Do we as humans have the right to change or alter it as there is no real reason to do so.
Even a soft drink like Cola-Cola traverses more languages and cultures than "Yeshua" can.
