My New Fridge Is BUILT DIFFERENT | EcoFlow Glacier for Overlanders

Is the EcoFlow Glacier fridge practical and relevant for 4X4 overlanders?

Use code TINKERER55 for an extra 5% off on GLACIER (valid until 7/31/2023)

Note: if you plan to use the DC converter only for the Glacier (up to 240W), the cheap MGGi is sufficient. But if you also plan to use it at higher power like charging a large power station, I recommend the Victron with active fan cooling. In either case, a properly configured XT60i cable is required. For all reasons why, watch the DC converter video.

Dude, your videos set the standard! A standard that very few others meet. Thanks for putting these out.

Not an overlander, but the overlap of portable power and off-grid fridge brought me here. I have to say, you are the mac daddy of presentation. Your thorough grasp of “show- don’t tell” is on point!

Great job on the videos. You present these things in a smart, direct and fun way. I rarely feel like I need a freezer and have stuck with my 50qt ARB, but the ice maker is pretty sweet. Being able to have a cold drink without storing the drink in the fridge at all would be pretty nice.

Best review on this fridge that I've watched so far on YouTube.

I am glad I found your channel. I appreciate the way you present your videos. They are nicely sequenced, logical, and easily understood. I am almost convinced that I could duplicate some of your vehicle conversions. Keep them coming. Thanks.

Have neither the desire nor the necessity to get this fridge but found your testing legit AF. Amazing channel, instant sub.

Another option instead of a $1, 000 true dual-zone fridge/freezer: two smaller single-zone units for ~ $200-$250 each (e.g.: Alpicool)

I watched nearly every video when this first came out.
YET I am watching yours and have learned so many new things.
Really good job!!!

We have a national Luna weekender twin. It is 48l with a single compressor. It’s not dual zone but if you set the temp as a fridge the small compartment works as a freezer. It works perfectly. We’ve had it for 12 years and used it for 42 countries of overlanding. This built in battery is pretty cool though.

I love your video. Great review just an FYI farm fresh eggs can stay out and not be refrigerated. Europeans do it all the time.

The vacuum insulation was the coolest part. I was nerding out VIPs when I learned about them a while ago, They're still a delicate and niche technology, but I can see them being super useful in overlander / van dwelling designs.

Imagine something like a monolithic fiberglass box like earth cruiser uses, but with VIPs through out. The efficiencies approaching passive house levels could vastly simplify and or expand where your adventures can happen. Personally, as someone who lives where it gets super hot, I appreciate air conditioning. Which is harder to add, let alone maintain in a rig.

This is exactly what I need to replace my vevor 48 quart fridge. I can run this ecoflow fridge from my Delta2 that is always charging from my 200W solar system on my 4runner roof. Great video man! We appreciate the knowledge drop.

Yow mann..been watching your videos. I have learned a lot from you.I've been using my Glacier, and I'm really loving it. Makes my beverage cold really fast. Like an actual fridge.

I just spent $250 for a 50L unit with true dual zones. And bought a separate dedicated ice maker for $40.

Thanks Kai!!! For me, ice has been one thing missing from my overlanding trips!

Great review. I purchased a CFX55 with icemaker last year. (Dometic had a great sale, i didn't really care about the icemaker. Just wanted a little more room than my CF40) I have not used it to make ice yet, but the ecoflow looks to be a much better ice setup for those looking for ice. Thank you for sharing.

I got the ARB zero, 69 liters, I think I that's 47 or 57 us ?
Anyway, I threw it in the back, filled nearly all the cargo area lol
But I love it, absolutely worth it, and with the roof rack I can do away with the space
They're also the most efficient fridges out there
