Learn how to make a dice tower! This was a really fun DIY project that showcases some woodworking, a little brass work, and a wet ink transfer technique to make the tavern-style hanging sign. We were inspired by a lot of dice tower designs online, particularly Geek Chic, and wanted to build our own that was over the top and showcased some cool techniques.

This is our first video! We'd love to hear your feedback.

A dice tower is a great thing to have around your gaming table if you play games like Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), Pathfinder, or other games that roll a lot of dice. Rolling dice is one of the best parts of any tabletop RPG but it's fairly common for dice to fall off the table, knock things over, or land in a place where the result is hard for everyone to see. The dice tower not only looks awesome but it helps you keep your rolls on the table.

And as Jaimie likes to say...if you roll badly it's not your fault, it's the dice tower's fault. :D

If you make a dice tower, please send us some pictures! We'd love to check it out.

Thumbs up for that trick of using a soda straw to scrape up the glue squeeze out! I'll be using that!

Should have added a dice box drawer in the bottom under the battlements. This would be a fun way to incorporate the underside of the ramp

nice build, see one problem, won't the dice get stuck behind/next to the door opening? from time 2 time ? for the rest part of the build, "fantastic"

I have three nieces less than 6 years old, and playing anything involving dice ends up being a search for errant dice. This is a great idea to corral the dice and keep the game going. Thanks!

I made mine out of foam core and sculpted stone bricks for a Gothic castle look. No pegs used 3 ramp shelves

Wood working, metal music, and board game related...couldn't more perfectly fit the niche that I'm interested in!

This is one of the best woodworking videos I've ever seen. Great if you have a big shop, but also great if you don't. I learned a ton! I loved the ink transfer technique and the sanding on a towel idea. Thanks for all the great content.

What the frick?!?! Your first video was a dice tower woodworking video?!?! I did _not_ see this coming!

Dang. Nerds after my own heart. Both the role-playing nerds to horror nerds.

Instead of dowels you could put a couple steep ramps at the top and in the middle angling in opposite directions and cover them in velvet or some other rough material. The velvet will grip the dice a little and cause them to roll, randomizing them without having to drill holes in the side of your pretty tower and dampen the noise so it isn't making a loud rattle whenever you use your tower.

I designed and 3d printed my own dice tower once, but I made the area at the bottom too short, so if you use heavier dice in it they have a tendancy to bounce back inside the tower. Revised version has a larger area at the bottom, and a little step up into the tower.

Thanks for bringing up burnishing with shavings, I always do that when turning, but never thought of it on flat surfaces. I will definitely try that on my next project

I've watched this video of y'all building this awesome tower about 40 times, and today I came to watch it just so I could hear the music again :D

I don't know why some don't like dice towers. I think they are pretty useful. Nobody has to worry about dice rolling off the table and it's a lot more random and fair when you use the tower.

Holy cow how great of an idea is the straw trick! Just made my projects so much less frustrating.

Was about to say how much I enjoyed the background music, when I found out not everybody seems to like it. ...Well, surprise-surprise. Anyway thanks a lot for sharing your magnificent crafting with all us. I find it a bit hard to follow due to the lack of a workshop and the skill. But it's very cool to learn from the masters

I'm not sure how I stumbled upon your channel, but this D&D player / aspiring DIYer really enjoyed this build. I look forward to watching your future vids.

This video just randomly popped up in my recommend feed. Im assuming due to my recent obsession with table top games as of late. Needless to say, really happy it did. Sub!
