I can tell you where a lot of this paranoia comes from... Projection. Sony is worried MS will do to them exactly what they would do to MS if they were in their position

If I was head of Xbox and offered 2 deals and Sony turned them both down, I would then say "Alright if that's what you want, you get nothing", and make it part of the PC/Xbox ecosystem.

Sony doesn't even allow Spiderman to be available on other consoles for not even for 24 hours, but they want and demand COD to be available on their console forever and ever, and the COD IP doesn't even belong to them!

If I were Sony, I would take this deal and use the next 10 years to develop a COD alternative FPS. Revitalize Killzone, Destiny, heck, maybe they can even partner with EA to potentially buy/make an exclusive deal for Battlefield or Metal of Honor. But most of all, I hope this means Sony will start to actually realize making new exclusives matter, and will stop remaking the same damn game 50 times.

Kind of funny how Sony is accusing Microsoft of being a monopoly for purchasing Activision when they themselves bought Funimation, VRV, Crunchyroll and probably some other anime companies

As a Playstation user, I think Jim Ryan has been one of the WORST things to happen to Sony in a long time. He's all about money and not about the consumers. While I agree that Microsoft is gaining a bit of a monopoly on developers, Jim Ryan is crying and kicking his feet like a little kid. There are lots of ways Jim can work with Microsoft, but he is like "Me, Me, ME!" and he's not willing to work with Microsoft in anyway shape or form.

The Brazilian regulators conclusion its the most sound one that I saw until now, the document is public so anyone can read it, and they showed a impressive knowledge of the market, and they explain in all possible details why that acquisition is not harmful and doesn't in any way constitute monopoly. They even conclude by saying that their job is to choose what is best for the consumer and not to please any company. The Uk document in other hand looks like Jim Ryan wrote it.

They're obviously going to turn down these offers cause they don't want the deal to go through, period. If they accept the deal, regulators will let it through no problem. The more Sony cries and complains, the more likely regulators will be to scrutinize it more.

Even if CoD stays on PlayStation, they'll lose the marketing and exclusivity deals they love so much. All the marketing will be for Xbox.
