THANK YOU!!! Just before your video (after watching a bunch with no results) I was about to give up and re-record and re-edit ALL AUDIO in my project. Upgrade last night on our system...I should have known. I opened up Premier Pro today and to find that after hours of work my audio was randomly gone. I held my temper and my tears and went to You Tube and the second video in, yours, I found the fix. Thanks much!!!!

Man, I cannot tell you how much I love you. Honestly. I just formated my PC and had to reinstall all adobe shit. When I went to Premiere, I had no "A1" at the left, just didnt appear. The 3rd solution solved it. Thanks a lot, really.

My man... I am using adobe premiere elements 15, and had the same audio issue. Renamed common folder to commonold, restarted the program, dropped in the clip, and the audio worked. Thank you so much!!!

Thank you SO MUCH! Simple click on A1 was all I needed, must've clicked it by accident😆

DUDE I WAS A BIG SKEPTIC FOR THE "Commonold" trick when the 1st two didn't work but boy did it work!

I have a forth solution, for people with the problem that the audio doens't play when you play it on the timeline, but you can here everything else, so to fix this you have to copy all the audio in your timeline and just create new audio tracks for them to be placed on, and then just simply delete all the empty tracks :)

Thank you very much, the media cache was causing my audio to pop up and play in some of the video, but then suddenly play no sound for the rest of the video. Clearing it really solved it, thank you!

Dragging and dropping the clip from the file to the timeline worked for me.

FOR THOSE THAT THESE METHODS DIDN'T WORK FOR (on Windows): Right-click on the sound icon in the bottom right > Open volume mixer > Raise Premiere's Audio up from zero
