1.) Never wear long sleeves, hoodies with strings, dangling jewelry, etc. The spindle and feed screw can pull these in.
2.) Place your 6" scale between the cutting tool and the stock, and gently move the cutting tool along the y-axis. Look at the scale and adjust the height of the cutting tool until the 6" scale is vertical.
3.) (4 x CS)/ Diameter = (4 x 200)/ 1.18in = ~678 RPM
4.) The chart for the spindle speed is located on the top of the headstock, while the feed rate chart is located below it.
5.) To make the spindle turn in the counter-clockwise direction, pull the black lever near the emergency stop button out, and push it down. To ensure that the spindle is turning the right direction, jog the machine by quickly turning it on and off. Never check the direction of the spindle with your hands.
