Lo, there do I see my father.
Lo, there do I see my mother,
and my sisters, and my brothers.
Lo, there do I see the line of my people,
Back to the beginning

Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them,
In the halls of Valhalla,
Where the brave may live forever!

This movie is so underrated its insane. Even with the budget cuts and rushes to put it to theaters, it's better than most movies today by a long shot

literally thought I was the only one who still thought about this scene ...let alone this movie to see there are at least 4 others still out there ....this is one of the most underrated movies of all time .

I an not Viking, I am azteca. My husband is Viking and our boys are both fire and ice. My boys have to embrace both. This speech always gives me the chills.

I have no idea why this movie wasn't a big hit. I have seen it about ten times and I love it every single time.

My father and I were very fond of this movie and when he died, we were scattering his ashes - I found myself saying this prayer for him. I know he heard it because we saw an Eagle land on the boat right after. We scattered him on Lake Shasta.

One of the most magnificent movies I’ve ever watched. How this never did better I’ll never understand.

The campfire translation scene was a touch of movie genius, and the entire film is a master work.
*"Heavenly father I have squandered my days on dreams of many things, this was not among them."🤣

Movie is basically a Viking Seven Samurai. And brilliant. Lots of now famous faces amongst the cast

It really is a shame that they didn't include 1 detail from the book. Right before the battle, 2 crows land on their leader, 1 on each shoulder. They all immediately take this as a sign that Odin himself has his eyes on them, making them practically incapable of cowardice and makes them fight even harder.

A wonderfully written story with great cinematography, and superbly performed in spite of its troubled production. An extremely *underrated* and *underappreciated* gem that is a must-see for anyone who hasn't. I highly, *highly* recommend that you do if you enjoy films of the period.

If you give it a watch and agree, leave a like and comment with your thoughts. It just might inspire others to recommend giving it a chance!

I worked on this movie as a rigging grip. I helped build the temple and cave sets. It was called "Eaters of the Dead" until they changed the title. I sure wish I would have made it to the main set! A friend of mine was an Viking extra in the party scene.

I'm a chef, years ago I had a kitchen crew that liked to say this every morning right before we opened the doors. I had another crew that liked to say the rifle prayer from Full Metal Jacket except they substituted station for rifle.
IE "This is my station! There are many like it but this one is mine!"
Hey, whatever kept them going.

Unironically a great movie. I know the budget was low, but they did a really good job with what they had. The action, writing, and drama were all very well done. This movie, this scene especially, deserves more attention.

I don't get how this movie failed in boxoffice, one of the best medieval movies!

That scene where they all pray together in unison and cultivate that special bond between brothers in arms is pure cinematic gold❗️

If people from nowadays, while they watch all the crap from today would take a break and watch this movie, they'd be amazed. This is a hidden masterpiece.

I watched this movie a hundred times before, it wasn't until recently I realised it was directed by the same guy as the the original Predator, John McTiernan. So no wonder it was so good.
