The Legendary Story of the ORIGAMI LUCKY STARS

One of the most famous origami crafts is Lucky Star, which is a small star-shaped origami that is usually made in large quantities and put into a jar. The Japanese have a belief that by making small stars out of paper, their hopes can be realized. Therefore, this craft is called Lucky Star. In addition, there is a legendary story in Japan that is very attached to the Lucky Star and is passed down to their children.

In ancient times in Japan, there was a little girl named Hoshi who loved the stars in the sky. She often lay in the grass at night to enjoy the starlight for hours. One night, while staring at a star, she saw something that made her sad that she wanted to cry—the stars falling from the sky. There were so many falling stars at that time, and it made her afraid that the sky would run out of stars.

Suddenly, Hoshi got an idea. She ran home and returned with a jar and several pieces of papers. For every falling star, Hoshi made a star from the paper and stored it in a jar. That night, she made 100 paper stars. However, she still felt sad because there were still many stars falling from the sky, while she could no longer fold the paper stars alone.

The following night, there were only a few stars in the sky. Feeling anxious, Hoshi ran to the houses in her village, knocked on the door one by one, and invited all the children, both girls and boys, to join her. She explained what happened to the stars in the sky, and they agreed to help her. Finally, they managed to make 2000 stars that night and put them in their jars.

Unexpectedly, a surprising thing happened. Star by star began to reappear in the sky, the children were happy. Hoshi said, "These stars are lucky because of us. From now on, this paper star will be called a lucky star. " Hoshi then looked up at the sky and said, "Every time a paper star is made, one falling star will be saved."

The children have grown up now, but they still make lucky stars and store them in a jar. Although they have brought good luck to shooting stars, but actually, stars are the ones who bring them luck.
