The fact that she was denied twice 😞 and still got a hold of some children.

I was a foster child that was blessed to be put in my mom's home. She ended up adopting me. She was an amazing mom. I truly lucked out.

When my brother was in 3rd grade back in the 80s, his teacher took him to the principal's office one day. They kindly asked him how he had gotten a bunch of bruises up and down his arms. My brother told the truth -- he was playing competitive tackle football (we live in Texas). The principal called our parents and then the football league and my brother's coach to verify this. He also called our family's pastor. Our parents were taken aback, but not upset -- they appreciated his teacher alerting the school of the issue. They also went to the sports store and bought my brother arm pads.
This is what people are SUPPOSED to do when they see suspicious bruises on a child!

So she was pissed off when they denied her because of the potential to be an abuser...so she manipulated the system and proved them right by being exactly that??? Smfh...

i never usually cry at true crime but the picture of her with her leg in a cast, still trying to smile for the absolute waste of life that did it to her, honestly shook me. couldn't help but cry.

My abusive step mom tried to adopt an infant baby girl. When she came into my life at 5 years old I was already too old for her to brain wash and I had my bio mom as an influence in my life. At 19 years old after no contact for many years she came to me to let me know she was trying to adopt an infant baby girl. I immediately thought to myself that all she wanted was a doll and if that baby girl doesn’t turn out how she wants I can’t let another child be abused in the way she abused me. My stepmom tried to repair our relationship and get me to show up to their adoption meetings to make it look like we were a big happy family. Surprise, surprise we had another falling out before I ever went to one of those meetings. Couple weeks later I get a request for an “adult child reference” from the adoption agency. I ripped her to shreds in that reference and thank god that I did not ever show up to those meetings. She did not get the chance to adopt and they were rejected. Seeing this video makes me feel like I saved a child’s life.

My sister was a nurse in the ER the night she was brought in. They tried their hardest to save that poor baby. My heart goes out to her sister Millie and family.

Social workers who don’t care at all about kids infuriate me so so much. It’s like if you came to the doctor’s office with blood gushing out of your artery and the doctor was like „Eh, I don’t really feel like doing anything, I’d rather grab another coffee“

Samantha is the epitomy of 'just here for the paycheck' what an absolutely useless worthless waste of space. I hope the trauma of what happened to Layla haunts and follows her for the rest of her life. She enabled this!

Something has got to change. There are far too many caseworkers getting away with these children's blood on their hands.

The fact that case workers like Samantha STILL don't have to face any kind of criminal charges for what they have done (or didn't do), just leaves me dumbfounded. Once more I have lost all faith in the system and humanity.

The picture with Layla's leg in a bandage is truly just so much more heartbreaking when you notice how bruised her other leg is. I find Samantha equally culpable, she should be rotting in prison. Those injuries should never have happened, and if Samantha had done her job, that little baby girl would have still been alive today.

I will never understand people who choose to foster/adopt children just to then abuse them. The kids have been through enough without further trauma, it’s just absolutely disgusting. I would love to foster children, one day when I’m stable enough as I have plenty of love to give to any child in need 💜

35:59 layla was still non verbal, so it made it EASIER to abuse her. she couldn't tell anybody what was going on - that's why she focused on her so much

I'm a cps caseworker and I'm appalled at that worker!!! The standard of care for children in the system is so much higher than if they were with their parents. That social worker and her supervisors, that judge and all those slimy politicians should be held accountable. I'm glad they had the book thrown at them. For me, if I even have a suspicion that kids are being abused in a foster home I remove them upon further investigation. Disgusting

Samantha needs to be charged. Absolute incompetence! Jennifer and Joseph hopefully are getting similar treatment that they gave Layla 🙏🏻

Samantha White was just a lazy person that didn't want to bother. She didn't want to do the paperwork because that would have just been way too exhausting for her. Samantha needs to be put in a room and have everything she done to these precious little girl's done to her. I have absolutely no sympathy for monster's that harm children and could care less if they survive another day. This case makes my blood boil. The case worker should have been charged with allowing all of this to go on.

I watched the sentencing. The fact that the father of Joseph called Laila “it” told me all I needed to know. The judge was so appealed as to the lack of remorse for the death of Laila. Neither Jennifer nor Joseph, neither their family said that they were sorry for what happened to that poor child…

My dad was physically and emotionally abused by his dad throughout his childhood. He always told me that experiences like that can lead you on one of two paths; you copy the behaviours that you have witnessed, or you learn from them and become the better person ❤️ he’s the best dad anyone could ask for
