The Court Room's mixture of paintings of biblical inspiration and roundels depicting major London hospitals is the perfect starting point for an analysis of the relationship between religion and charity. Drawing upon the Room's artworks, Lorenzo Frattini will outline how religion's influence shaped 18th-century public views on philanthropy and lead to the creation of new types of charitable institutions.

Lorenzo Frattini is a Museums, Galleries and Contemporary Culture MA student at the University of Westminster. He is currently carrying out a work placement at the Foundling Museum.
