More than six million people visit the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican City each year - making it the third most-visited museum in the world.

This puts a strain on the health of Michelangelo’s world-renowned frescos.

So, how do the Vatican Museums make sure the work is being looked after?

My son went to the Chapel with my sister, when he was 14. He emailed me later and said, "Mom, it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." I mean, a 14 year old teenaged boy, saying this? It's that remarkable.

To see Michaelangelo's masterpieces upclose is a great life achievement for a history lover like me

I was there last year it's stunningly beautiful .You could spend all day looking at the paintings on the walls and ceiling.

All the idiots taking pictures when they are explicitly told not to do so though is annoying why the hell can't people have simple respect for something they're lucky to get the chance to see in the first place.

I always want to love the value of classical art, which has always preserved its outstanding beauty ❤💝💖💗🩷

I visited about 8 years ago and it was breathtaking. I very rarely scratch something off my bucket list but this was in the top 5. Beautiful and faith affirming.

Sistine Chapel great part of our Christian Heritage, I appreciate it even though i am a Protestant.
I hope good people of Italy protect this and all other Christian Masterpieces of Italy.

I only wish if we can respect human life even half as much as these art pieces.
The areas are testament of human existence, they deserve the all the protection and the hype!! ❤

How long did it take to paint the sistine chapel

Michaelangelo would have appreciated what they are doing. There has to be a limit to the number of people in the room, to protect that amazing Renaissance masterpiece on the ceiling and walls of the Sistine Chapel, otherwise they will have to carry out a more rigorous rethink. One of the prehistoric painted caves in France, now has a replica, because the real one is endangered. I hope that never happens in the distant future, for this Christian heritage treasure.

So, this is the Sistine Cathedral, not the chapel, the chapel is behind this room. Been there many times, Stop calling it the chapel.
