"He's not immortal, he just refuses to die."

That's all I needed to hear.

Thank you so much for telling everyone about “Sisu.” Anyone who would like John Wick, would LOVE this movie.

Dated a lovely lady from Helsinki for a while a few years back!
The word “ sisu” has a special meaning in dealing with toughness and inner strength and personal perseverance!
Plus that Fino-Russian conflict still looms in that countries National memory! So a Finnish “ Rambo-style “ action fantasy movie is right on time!
I’ll certainly be checking this flick out

"Sisu is a unique Finnish concept. It is a Finnish term that can be roughly translated into English as strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity."

Greetings from Finland. I already saw it months ago since it came earlier to cinema here in Finland. After all those 3 hour marvel movies its refreshing to see a movie that keeps things simple. Just one guy against a group of nazis. Loved the gore and how brutal the action was. Jorma Tommila was also made for this role, cant think of any other Finnish actor who could have pulled this of. The last 1/3 gets little bit goofy with cheesy dialog(in the wrong way) and the last action sequence felt too over the top compared to the rest of film. But in overall, a solid film, would love to see this character again.

As it goes: seeing a happy Chris in the thumbnail means it’s a great movie

The great thing about this movie is that while it takes place in the past, it isn't tied to that time period. If the studio wants to make more of these films, they can just take the idea of "sisu" and plant it anywhere in time. Past, present or future...it really doesn't matter as long as it has someone who doesn't give up and kills a lot of bad guys.

My grandparents came over from Finland, so I grew up with both cultures. When I found out this was out, my son and I went to see it instead of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 so we could support Finnish cinema. It was fantastic! Glad we made that choice.

It’s nice to see Finnish cinema get more attention internationally. I think there is great potential in Finland for more films like that. You could do horror for example because there is a lot of dark time and long distances in Finnish Lapland. And it also offers great possibilities for absolutely beautiful cinematography. I’ve lived there for some time.

This was a mystery movie at my theater and I paid $5 for one gory, glorious surprise of an action movie. Great movie and fantastic final line.

I’m so glad to see a Finnish film getting such good recognition!! I heard you mention Rare Exports- but if you haven’t seen Big Game- it’s another film from the same director, with the Jorma & Onni Tommila in it. It’s a theme across all the movies of that director to suspend disbelief. Haha. Things aren’t always accurate- but they are great fun to watch.

I especially enjoyed SISU- because the main character’s last name was Korpi, and as a Korpi- I was very proud. 🇫🇮👏🏻

Stoked you are bringing awareness to this film as well. I got to see an early screening about 2 weeks ago and absolutely loved it!! I did a review of it as well on my channel. I’m always interested in hearing your perspective on things and I can’t wait for Shelby Oaks this year!! Cheers Chris!

Chris: “Please don’t say I’m comparing them.”

Also Chris: “The Raid is a better movie.” 😂

I loved this movie!!!! It commits to what it is and the storyboarding, camera, editing, music, and of course, acting is so unified and solid. Hollywood should be ashamed to hear they made this for $6M. Worth every penny!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Loving seeing Finland getting some recognition in the mainstream media/popculture media! Loved seeing this movie with my wife (who is Finnish) and she herself thoroughly enjoyed the film and loved how the story stayed true to the word “SISU.” There isn’t a definition to the word but man does the protagonist portray what it means to live by “Sisu” and what it means to be Finnish 🇫🇮!!
