Ep. 35 - WD40 Was Invented For This Nuclear Missile Silo

WD40 Was Invented For This Nuclear Missile Silo. The Rocket Chemical Company on their 40th attempt invented the formula for 'Water Displacement Project 40', WD40. The WD40 formula was used to coat the missile with a rust inhibitor to protect its integrity during the cold Colorado winters.

The Titan 1 underground Nuclear Bunker was developed during the Cold War as a deterrent against a Soviet nuclear strike against the United States. The Titan 1 Missile Silo complex was armed with 3 Nuclear Missiles, each 98 ft missile was armed with a destructive 4.5 megaton warhead and payload [the equivalent of 4.5 Million Tons of TNT per missile].

With the worldwide Covid pandemic of 2020, forced lockdowns, food and supply chain disruptions, severe travel restrictions, riots and looting of his local neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills and other communities in Los Angeles, it was time for Nik to leave.

Nik leaves his hillside mansion in the Hollywood Hills to live in an abandoned 1960's Military Nuclear Bunker that was designed as an underground city 165 feet deep. The Titan 1 Nuclear Bunker Complex was decommissioned in 1965, frozen in time and lay abandoned until now. It remains the largest privately owned underground bunker complex in America:

The 'Nuclear Bunker Living' You Tube series documents Nik's exploration and renovation of America's largest and most hardened underground Nuclear Military Bunkers.

The Titan 1 Nuclear Bunker Complex was the largest secretive underground complex of its time and still remains America's most hardened underground structure. Construction for the Titan 1 commenced in 1959. It was designed as a virtual underground city with independent power for 17 buildings and domes up to 165 feet deep, 35 Million gallons of annual water allocation, sewer, kitchen, bathrooms, sleeping quarters with chemical, biological and nuclear air filtration.

Over 600,000 cubic yards of earth were removed in the facility's construction, 32,000 cubic yards of epoxy polymer- modified concrete rated at up to 15,000 PSI, 300 tons of piping, 90 miles of cables, 3,000 ton of 3 inch rebar and a labyrinth of 2,500 feet of expansive tunnels.

The Titan 1 Nuclear Bunker Complex cost the American taxpayers a total of $47 million [1962 $ Dollars] to build. Indexed to inflation, the replacement value of a Titan 1 Nuclear Bunker Complex today would be $325 Million Dollars.

Thanks for joining us with this episode on the backstory to WD40. Crazy, that is was invented to protect the Nuclear Missiles in their Silos. We appreciate your support.

I’ve got to say that this episode reminds me of the same involved and excited about it infectiousness of Ehren H. from a website I watched several years ago. It was IMPOSSIBLE to watch her videos on her family’s Titan I complex in Washington state and not like everything about it. Nik, you have the same excited joy she had six years ago telling her Titan I story and it is a real current pleasure to watch! We’ll done!!!

it really saddens me to see that you guys only have 24.5k subscribers i mean its not a little number, but a venture this big deserves much much much more exposure, and I can only hope that my like, comment, and subscription forces youtube to put this content out there for more people cuz this is absolutely awesome. Happy to see the channel grow either way. As for the injuries, i figured there was going to be alot. This is extremely dangerous lol, glad you are okay.

How did is just now discover this? As a 3d artist that has been recreating one of these facilities for over a year as a game level demo in Unreal Engine, I am completely blown away that you have taken on this massive project.

This is incredible! Your site is in remarkably good shape compared to several others I have seen! I can't believe you still have elevators in your portal and equipment terminals! Seems most were removed when other sites were decommissioned. You have some good solid bones to work with here! Coming from a construction and fabrication background I can really appreciate what you are doing. Thank you for sharing this and allowing us along for the journey. Keep us up to date as you are able and you all stay safe! Cheers

Just started watching and I have to say, WD-40 is not a lubricant, even though it can work as one. It was designed for water displacement. That is what the WD stands for. During the moon missions and it was used to coat the fuel portion of the rocket so that the ice buildup would sheet off when the rocket launched. Try PB Blaster. You will have quicker results and it penetrates better. Also, be careful. WD-40 is flammable. I restore pinball machines and learned that the hard way.
(Edit) I should have watched longer before commenting. You are now explaining it. LOL Oh well, PB Blaster still works better. :D

Actually wd-40 Was for preventing ice from sticking to the missile it doesn't really dissolve rust if I remember correctly, you need Areocroil and marvel mystery oil

I can't imagine the amount of resources required to clean one of these up. Our government wouldn't/couldn't do it. Of course they really had no need, but if they did, it would have taken an army of contractors to do what you are doing. Good luck, stay safe.

Your videos are interesting, but I'm not quite sure what the endgame is here. Maybe I missed it, but is there a video what summarizes what your plan is for the complex?

Nik, I know you are probably not making any kind of money on the YouTube side of this but thank you for posting. I really enjoy the content from this channel, what is your overall final plan?

Water Displacement 40 was invented for aerospace industry. It took 39 not so good formulas before number 40.

Very nice episode Nik.. Thx for the history of WD-40 and it's uses on the Titan 1's.. As far as a penetrant to use around the complex, mix up a 50-50 batch of Acetone and Automatic Transmission fluid.. it makes WD-40 look like water... And the price is very cheap... Have you tested the well water from the power Dome to c if it is contaminated.. Nik thx again for taking us along on another great episode... Take care my friend...
