This is an incredibly simple trick but what made it work was his performance and the circumstances of him being the one to do it. The moment Graham started saying he could do magic I was like oh cool, he's probably gonna do some mathematical trick or a basic impossible routine or something. The moment he started putting stuff into piles and going through the 'try one, burn one' routine I'd written the whole trick off as a mathematical quirk- in particular the comment about how Will.i.am's 'middle shuffle' might have messed him up convinced me of this. All of these things worked together so that when he slapped the cards and got it right I was like 'wait...what?' and had to go back to figure things out.

Just goes to show that a good performance can make even an underwhelming trick really cool to watch.

A little addition that I added is I like to secretly turn the Queen of hearts upside down so that when you slap it it's right side up and it just makes it look like it kind of appeared it gives a really cool effect when you do it

He actually memorized the SECOND from the top, and then shuffled the bottom card on top of the deck to make the second card (Ace of Hearts) in the third position.

As a magician myself, it was super fun to watch his process because it's folk magic, not classical magic. Who's ever seen a force like this ever in Erdnase or Royal Road?! So fun to watch, especially J Law's reaction.

This is sooo good and well-explained, thanks!! This is the only trick I think I've ever seen explained this well. I have a question, because I want to know if I'm crazy and don't get it or if there's a way around this: If, at the end, you show the 10 of Clubs (which isn't their card) and they happen to remember it for some reason-- and they see you burn it (when you're actually burning the Queen), when you show them the last two cards and say, "Are these your cards?" and one of them is -still- the 10 of Clubs, couldn't they catch you with, "I thought you already put the 10 of Clubs down on the table!" Unless I missed something. I watched this way too many times, well beyond the point of good mental health LOL so I'm likely mixed up.

That's awesome. I want to learn that one. Chris obviously makes it far more amazing with his patter and appears bumbling so that you are wishing for him to pull it off, which makes the end reveal so much cooler.

He performed very well, also he put one card over the top as start, because AS was in second position but it was a great card and chose it for the trick.

I was so close! I put it 8 from the bottom then did the slidey thing to get it on top of the 4 cards. After showing the bottom card of the 4 cards I simply slid the top card off and continued from there. This one is so much better. Thanks!
