C6 ZR1 vs C7 Z06 | Corvette 1/2 mile Drag Race

At the 2017 Battle Creek Speedfest, we see a C6 Corvette ZR1 going up against a C7 Corvette Z06 in a half mile drag race. This event was in conjunction with the 2017 Battle Creek Field of Flight air show and Balloon Festival.

Both cars are great, but made for different reasons. The C6 ZR1 was a top end monster. It was made to pull hard all the way up go its top speed, and it was great at that. It just happened to handle and brake well. The C7 Z06 was made for the track. At 125mph, the Z06 (without the Z06 package) makes 2× the amount of down force as the ZR1. It also has much shorter gear ratios for the track and more aggressive suspension/camber/toe angles that are geared towards track driving vs. Top speed.

The old ZR1 is almost 200 lbs lighter. The ZO6 also has the road coarse spoiler on which is a no no on the strip. ZR1 is also geared for speed. Straight line performance ZR1 is still the best that GM can offer.
