In this video, I share the Rwandan capital of Kigali. The city was founded in 1907 during Belgian rule. Rwanda later got her independence in 1962 and Kigali was recognized as the Capital city of the country. In this video, we talk about life in Rwanda; The population, Food, Transport and other bits about the great city of Kigali. Kigali is without a doubt the cleanest city on the African continent and when you visit, this is very evident from the clean streets in the city.

Kigali, city and capital of Rwanda. It is located in the centre of the country on the Ruganwa River. Kigali was a trade centre (after 1895) during the German colonial administration and became a regional centre during the Belgian colonial period (1919–62). It became the capital upon Rwanda’s independence in 1962. In 1994 thousands of Tutsi in Kigali were killed by Hutu gangs and the Rwandan army.
The city includes a Muslim quarter and spreads over four hills. Northeast of the city is a squatters’ settlement, and southeast is an industrial area. Kigali’s light industry includes shoe, paint and varnish, radio-assembly, and tanning factories. Cassiterite (tin) mining companies have their headquarters in Kigali, and a smelting plant was built there in the 1980s. The city is connected by roads, including several that are paved, to all four borders of the country. It also has an international airport and a technical college

Hi, from Durban, South Africa. Your country is a shining example of what can happen with good leadership and a president who not only sets an example with his own family participating in the cleaning of Kigalibut he has got most of the population to join in as well. Absolutely fantastic.

It's wonderful! No one can believe that afew decades ago there was war. That's what is required for country leaders. To be visionary.

As Africa continues to develop and grow may developing countries in Africa not allow war, bad leadership, corruption, drugs, gun violence, and international division from Europe, America, Asia, and greedy people to come into their lands and destroy it.

Keep your cities clean and safe!

Please don’t compromise,

Wakanda forever!

Heard of Rwanda n the genocides while in school. Never heard of Kigali. I'm from Malaysia. So glad to see such an amazing city. I hv been to Osaka, Japan. The streets are cleaner than the coridors of my house 😄 I would love to visit your beautiful country soon. You must make the world know that your country has successfully overcome the usage of plastic bags and the Saturday community cleaning up the city 😍👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Hello from Thessaloniki / Greece!....Very impressive! I'm happy that this country have managed to progress, after the tragedy they've suffered almost 30 years ago! I wish them all the best, and nothing so tragic to ever happen again to them! They surely deserve the peace and the prosperity, and especially their children!

Im from Kuching, a city in Malaysia. Kigali reminded me a lot of my city. Kuching comprises of around 700k people but when mixed together with its satellite towns, the metro area is 1 Million people. I hope both our city prosper together.
