Apparitions can be spiritually dangerous. According to Saint Anthony of the Desert, he entertained a Demon for some time mascarading as his guardian Angel. Because, the alleged apparition came from a nun whose name was anonymous. Apparitions must undergo investigation & interviews with the "unnamed nun" in order to be valid & approved by the Holy See at Vatican. For example, Divine Mercy apparition to Saint Sister Faustina, Our Lady to the 3 Children at Fatima, Transfiguration of The Risen Christ to His Apostles
