I remember Vatican II. The laity and religious both were all excited about the supposed coming renewal. Yet after it was done, so many Sisters and other religious left their offices and even the Church. Sunday mass had a small fraction of its former numbers. What happened? Very disappointing.

Yes ! I always believed that he was forced to resign . I remember well that lightning strike upon the announcement . I also remember the vicious attack on the dove while the new pope made his appearance on the balcony . It was a sign of disapproval from God . That is what came into my mind upon seeing that happen .
