This is one of the most realistic war scenes I've ever seen in a flick.

The muzzle flashes on the far tree line sure bring back memories.

Yea, that's true, in a real jungle combat scenario enemies are hardly seen unless you're sitting in for ambush, and casualties are often caused by stray bullets, there's no time to aim and shoot,
Most of the time guns are fired at the direction of the enemies not the enemies itself

I only saw my Dad cry twice in my life...one was after the 1980 Olympic team won gold in men's Hockey, and the other was During the Beach landing scene in Saving Private Ryan. There was dead quiet, and dad said it was exactly like that!

If you ever saw Charles in the bush you were already wounded or gone. NVA were a very competent enemy.

And the bullets snapping was also most accurate.

Ask my dad if he killed anyone in Burma in WW2 he said he shot alot of bushes, the only person he knew he'd killed was in the riots in India after the war finished when a guy jumped onto the bonnet of his jeep with a club.

The beach landing scene of saving Private Ryan looks at this scene and questions the hell?

I knew this in 1970 at 12 years old. We had a family from Ohio. A large part of the day moved to Minnesota, 6 of the boy were at the uni of Minnesota. 4 more boys were in Vietnam 3 were infantry comeback troops. All the came back with purple heads, the line they would say to the other kids during a picnic on 4th or holy or memorial day. " You never see them coming. You never hear the click of a rifle". There stories after they had a few beers were very scary.

Well I agree, and just to be a smart ass Marine who has been in combat several times.. did you know that's what an ambush is? It's quick, and you're not supposed to be seen. And you create all hell and tons of chaos!!

My old friend used to tell me stories about Vietnam and he said the only time you ever got a good look at them was at night during an ambush. You never saw them during the day and you never saw who you were shooting at during an engagement

And just like that, someone turned off the rain.

This and Platoon was commended by my dad who was in tours that mostly include terrains like what's in the video, the area is just...bushes and bushes shooting at you all across the place

Yup. Thats why Id never do well in the military. Im one who would never be content to have things go wrong after doing everything correctly. In war things happen no matter what you do, how careful you are. It is not just about the toil but about the sacrifice too. Somebody has to die so that the others who lives can win the fight. Id stay in my civilian field and contribute in my own ways
