How I force my pineapple plants to set fruit early!

Mine has been growing indoors in the UK for 5 years+, it finally naturally produced a flower (no tricks used), and it's currently growing a lovely looking fruit. Exactly like the one you showed in the video. It isn't large but it's lovely to see nonetheless.

I have a tropical warm house in Germany and I have around 100 pineapple plants. Outside in summer and inside during winter.

Calcium carbide makes acetylene gas. Napthaleneacetic acid/water or B naphylacetic acid (BNA)/water makes ethylene. Either will work. You can mix the carbide in water first and pour it in after it reacts for a bit. The reaction is exothermic so some of the damage to the crown could occur from the heat of the reaction if you pour it into the crown directly with water.
Carbide cannons are pretty cool. Calcium carbide is also used in old fashioned miner's headlamps, lanterns used on carriages, vintage gas generators used for welding, and early automobile headlamps. It comes in a variety of grain sizes. The cannon carbide is the finest grain. Probably the stuff for lamps is the most common. It looks like little gray pebbles of crushed rock and comes in a small paint can with a foil inner seal.

I'm currently attempting to grow two pineapples. I cut the top off about 1" into the pineapple itself.
I allowed them to dry for two days and then planned them. I cut back the dead splines, and now im waiting for them to grow. I hope I did it correctly...

How long do I leave the bangsite in the pineapple? Or rather, when will I see the flower start to grow? Weeks?

How long does it take the fruit to ripen from flower? Mine was 2 1/2 years old growing indoors in Indiana. Set it outside when temps were warm enough and it bloomed about a month after being outside.

Hey Jeff. How young can a plant be for it to successfully produce fruit with the method you showed? I have one that is about a year old. It would be ~1.5 years old at the time I would be attempting to induce it. Could it be too young to induce? Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🙏

How many times do I do this bangsite treatment? Once? The is a residue that is left on the crown should I always keep that wet?

I have had my pineapple plants for 3 years! They look beautiful, but have never produced any fruit! Thank you so much! I was wondering if there is any way to do this organically as I am in organic grower. If not, at least I would have pineapples for my troubles even if they aren't organic.
