Explanation📍
Fire requires oxygen to burn. He wets the towel so that it doesnt get burned but also covers holes. He then Proceed to Cover it completely so no Air can get in by Getting rid of pocket holes. And wait for the remaining oxygen to be Diminished

2nd Explanation📍
He may have covered the Hole where the fire comes from to block Air using the wet towel to Protect Himself from the Fire

Not only was there an air bubble at the top when she did it, but she also didn't Pat the cloth all the way around the edges, she lightly patted the left and right but not front and back. That created a place where air can build along the sides and at that point it is entirely useless.

oxygen oxygen oxygen. more oxygen a flame gets the bigger it’ll get. in most cases you won’t see a firefighter bust through a window to save someone if theres a fire because it would rapidly allow more oxygen into the confined space.

Simple the woman opened up the towel to fast before the fire was put out so when the towel was removed the fire has exposed to oxygen and the gas that stuck towel got ignited as well
