DJI Mini 4 Pro owner here. The best golden rule to follow is this: Do not be an arsehole with your drone. Be respectful of others. Do NOT fly it 6ft off the ground in peoples gardens or private property. Be discrete and mindful of others. 50m altitude and over renders your drone almost invisible and out of earshot. Don't endanger the future of our hobby!

It's always a few who ruin it for the many.

The thing is... drone laws should be focused on one thing: *_SAFETY_* The UK (and other countries) already have plenty of laws to deal with issues of privacy, harassment, annoyance and such. It is not the purview of CAA (or the FAA or TC or CASA) to make rules based on any of these factors. They are responsible solely for ensuring that airspace users do not pose an unreasonable risk to person or property. The fact that so many people have been flying sub250g drones in all sorts of locations without a single death, significant injury or major damage to property proves that the current rules are indeed fit for purpose.

Any attempt by regulators to change the rules for sub250g drones solely because a few people have gotten annoyed should be strongly opposed by each and every drone operator. If they don't stand up and push back then they get what they deserve.

And... if drone regs are changed as a result of auditors actions -- what next? Will "zoom cameras" and bicycles be similarly restricted and regulated --- because these are items that auditors also use when they're out annoying people?

I’m new to drones and really am liking it that I’ve bought both the mini 2 and air 2. Some people are idiots and will spoil it for all. I was at a Nature Reserve to see a guy not only flying his drone there but actually parked on the road that interfered with traffic doing so. I did buy the mini 2 for travelling with less restrictions but we’ll see how that goes. Keep up the great work.

The well known auditor ( that you do an impression of 😂 )came to my workplace the other week, security we’re very polite to him and left him to it, no kicking off no interaction, he never uploaded the vid, whereas the company right across the road proper kicked off, and yes that vid got uploaded

I don't agree with the statement, that people won't buy the mini series if the restrictions will be stricter. I do have a license and yet I bought the mini 4 pro. I was able to buy the fly more combo for the price of the single air. Also, while travelling it's important that it does not take up a lot of space. While hiking it's important that the mini is lightweight. So I don't think the demand will drop just because authorities will change the rules.

It's pointless to try to regulate that. People are selling parts to make drones that do a lot more than DJI drones and some people are 3d printing parts.

What do you say is not actually 100% true. Yes, some people make boring videos flying over biscuit factories. Some auditors film biscuit factories without using a drone. But in terms of NOBODY making good content, you're wrong. DJE Media has done some wonderful videos. Seeing as he has the talent to make the wonderful videos I don't know why he spends so much of the time on the wind-up.

I fully agree I have the mini 4 pro but took all the examens anyway. I ask permission to film buildings of historical value before and share my footage. They come back and ask me to do more in another season. I don’t ask money it’s my hobby and I hope this can continue.

When this video first started I was in ahh shut up mode, but having watched it it is probably the best educational drone operator videos I have seen. You have definitely stated the obvious and the things people never consider. Iam sure you will be proven absolutely correct in the near future 😢

I appreciate your perspective on how drone regulations might evolve, and I share your passion for creating artistic content. However, I think it’s worth considering that the work of auditors—while different from ours—serves an important purpose in defending the rights of all photographers, including those of us who focus on creative projects.

Auditors are challenging misconceptions about photography in public spaces, which ultimately helps protect everyone’s ability to film without undue interference. While their methods may seem confrontational, their goal of desensitizing authorities to lawful photography could benefit all of us in the long run. Stricter laws are often a reaction to misunderstandings, and auditors are pushing back against those misunderstandings head-on.

That said, I completely agree that we should strive for a balance where artistic creators can operate without unnecessary friction. Perhaps the solution isn’t to blame auditors for potential regulatory changes, but to advocate for clearer laws that protect both artistic expression and the right to document public spaces. After all, their fight for PINAC (Photography Is Not a Crime) principles could help preserve the freedoms we rely on for our work, even if our approaches differ.

At the end of the day, there’s room for all kinds of content creators—auditors, artists, and everyone in between—to coexist and even mutually benefit from a more informed public and fairer laws.

As a sidenote, it's exceptionally easy to remove music from audio these days. I've got at least 4 VST plugins (I'm an audio engineer) that can do this and they'll remove background sound or music perfectly while leaving the voice untouched.

I don't think the CAA will bring in stricter rules purely because their focus is on air safety rather than people's privacy. I do think though that the auditors should not continue because regardless of whether or not it'll cause stricter laws, most of them, if not all, are just disrespectful. As you said, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it.

There has to be proof that the sub 250g poses danger. safety issues, etc... for the rules to be changed. Flying anywhere in unresrticted airspace can not be prevented (unless a change is made to that area). Operate your drone safely and there will never be an issue.

I'm a Mini 4 Pro drone driver in Canada and we have restrictions on our small drones right now. Distance from people, can't fly over people without a permit. Can't fly over any publicly advertised event, added to the controlled airspace restrictions. As a RC pilot for over 45 years as well as full size pilot I understand the safety issues however some of our newest restrictions seem to be a solution going looking for a problem but that's how most governments seem to operate. As for our RC planes, now we have to write the same small test from Transport Canada as to fly a drone over 249 grams to be able to fly them legally which is just more bureaucrat creep by people who LOVE more power and control over everything.

I'm from Switzerland and here too, the best drones are the C0 and C1 drones with which you have the fewest restrictions.

I have a mini 3 pro and to be honest I basically fly it in line with the regs for heavier drones anyway, regardless of the law, why would I want to fly it over peoples gardens in an intrusive way, So I do not fly it over built up areas unless someone asks me to have a look at their roof or chimney and thats what I do, I don't fly over neighbouring gardens because I've got no business doing that.

I have just entered the world of drones and brought myself a NEO its just a little tool for me to get a better dynamic.
The tip at the end is a good one I will remember that if I am ever in that situation!
Great video

Something else, when drones not allowed. They buy a hydraulic or portable mast or RC air ballon and go over police stations. And if that not allowed. They park a car in front police station put in a camera and film in and out going traffic

I've always been of the opinion that courtesy is of the highest importance when flying drones...I, personally, fly 90% of the time when people are still in bed. 😊
