I do shop between Amazon, Ebay and Ali. With Ali I just expect to eat a certain percentage of what I buy.

I REALLY hope that with a laptop that age that you've swapped the spinning rust for an SSD. I've done that on every laptop my family has and they are so happy.

I feel like I've been through the framework laptop thing in a lot of different iterations in the past. This one is better than the ones that have gone before it. I'm just cheap. I bought a killer $900 LG Gram and I'd rather replace it in 2 years than try to upgrade. Of course that's why our landfills are full. At least you/they are trying to solve the problem. Kudos there.

I like the RGB strips. Good diffusion. I can't see the pixels and I appreciate that.

I get all my electronics from ebay. I find it cheap, easy and pretty quick.

Last month I ordered 2 capacitors from China, (they were very strange values I needed), The delivery date said Oct 25th, I got them Oct 7th.

Ah you're a victim of the Chinese city of Yiwu.
There is a video that explains it called "No Orders From US & EU, World’s Largest Counterfeit Market Is Doomed | Yiwu | Temu"
TLDR: You can buy various things at a fixed price per kilogram, if you don't care about getting surplus or defective items.
