Logitech MX Master Mouse Stopped Working - Quick Fix / Common Repair

After 3 years of daily use, our Logitech MX Master suddenly stopped working.
LED lights are on and Left & Right buttons still work though. The mouse pointer just seemed to stop tracking movements.

The common cause of this issue is that the thumb button "sinks" over time causing it to be "permanently clicked". Luckily, the fix is quite simple. We just need to loosen a couple of screws inside the device to free up the button.

STEPS:
1. Remove the rubber feet.
2. Remove the 2 screws on top and the 2 TorX screws under the rubber feet.
3. Slowly lift the top part. Be extra careful when doing this as there's a thin ribbon cable that's connected to both the top and bottom parts of the device.
4. Gently loosen up the 2 screws that secures the thumb button "clicker" mechanism until the button can be clicked again.
5. Reassemble! You can use a double sided tape to reattach the rubber feet.

Before opening up your mouse press the thumb button hard a few times till you hear it click. Once it clicks your mouse should work again. This worked for me.

Thanks so much ! Fixed my problem immediately, I had thought that thumb button seemed to be sticking more. I think I might try getting some replacement skates though cos these have been worn down through the years. 2 sets on AliExpress for just over £1, bargain !

Worked for me. Cursor got frozen, other buttons worked. Restarted and pointer was invisible at the center of the screen. Did this and cursor is back thanks

the trouble with the MX Master disappears, when attached to another computer. So, the trouble seems to be with the software.

This happened to me for the second time and it is annoying af. I don’t have those special screws at work in fact I don’t have any screw driver at work. What a shame from my favorite top brands of mouses to almost hating this brand, because this isn’t the first issue. Talking about this stupid part and talking about the double clicking issues I just replaced my switches for the first time and did that to my Logitech g502 as well. It is awful!

I bought the mouse twice, once for work and once for playing. The ony for playing has been used way more... and yet.. both mice stopped working ath roughly the same time (after ~1 year)... seems... kinda fishy

There is a solution without opening the case. Just push the left side of the mouse
