I hovered like this and checked the work as a contractor completed a similar project for me. It drove the contractor nuts but saved many mistakes, corrections, and ruined materials. great vid. im doing a 16x16 ceiling on a deck soon and this video was more helpful than all the other vids out there. ill be using a J channel split down the middle too cuz i guess thats the only way to do it. youd think theyd start making soffit in longer lengths like they do decking but what do i know. thanks again. i was wondering how a butt joint would look instead of the split down the middle, probably not great. you ever try that?

I may have missed it, but is the J-channel in the middle 2 sided? Or is that 2 J-channels back to back? I’m looking to do the same thing on my house. Great video!
