EVERYTHING You Need To Know About UNDERWATER BASES In No Mans Sky 2024!!

Bases are a HUGE part of No Mans Sky and I think Underwater bases are a little under-appreciated because everyone usually wants to build the next big orbital base, or city base or some sculpture. Never the less, building an underwater base in No Mans Sky can be quite complicated so I've decided to go over everything you need to know about them in this video!

Why not become a member of my channel and get some exclusive perks?!

Thanks for watching!

Pro tip: Rather than build a huge solar grid and battery bank to run the base, just build the battery bank and attach to a few solar panels. Then connect to the base with a power switch. The base will only draw power when you switch it on but the panels will charge even when the game is off. You’ll always have power if you remember to turn off the lights before leaving.

UPDATE since Version 5.0: landing directly on water is now possible with the Aqua Jet uprade for you ship

Ya know tbh, I find that using glass cuboid rooms works better for solar farms. The batteries and solar panels just snap into place and there’s no need to wire everything. Additionally, the glass rooms don’t draw power and the outside squares - have pre-defined wiring points. Super easy and clean looking.

I appreciate you sharing your experience with building underwater bases in No Man's Sky. While the underwater environments in this game may not be as rich or detailed as those in other titles like Subnautica, it's still cool that the game offers the ability to construct bases below the surface. Thanks for the video.

As a big Subnautica fan I'm really hyped with the idea of doing a underwater base in nms, it will be perfect with a peeper exotic ship

I just wish there was more functional / mechanical reason to build a base. The only real value is mining/gas.

Well, and farming, and the questline about bases.

nms still doesn't have REALLY high mountains or REALLY deep oceans. I wish they'd go a bit more crazy.

I just spent about 45 minutes gathering a shitload of frost crystals for glass, and it turns out I can use my THOUSANDS of silicate powder for it?!

WHAT?!

I found a suitable water planet. May just head back and start things off there. I'll figure out the glyphs and such later.

Great planet. Just created a base (mainly underwater) called 'Seawaters Sanctuary'. Enjoyed making it.

To be honest I thought he was going to say that the first thing we need is a Squid ship lol

Thanks for the great guide. One thing I've been wondering that I thought might be mentioned here, but wasn't - is there any good way to raise/lower the height of underwater/cuboid foundation pillar pieces without having to build something else to the height you want and then snapping the foundation to it and deleting the first thing you built? Seems weird that you have these foundation pillars that can be super tall if you do that, but if I try building one without that tactic, it will only be at lowest possible height on the ocean floor. They don't seem to stack either. Know of any better way to raise their height? thanks

i use the full size floor panels for my solar grids. i went as efficient as possible. each full floor panel can hold 9 solars and 12 batteries. i usually run a few panels of just solar, wiring up between rows and interconnecting each additional row. then the same with batteries. i run enough solar and batteries to run power to base, i also found C and B em hotspots, so i ran gererators to batteries and ran it back to base, using a single battery as a relay to the next battery. i'll run it however long it is. so far my longest power lines are about 500 from base. with generators, i run 10 floor panels with a generator on each and wired up and run one tile over to start the rows of batteries. from the battieries, run the relay again to run power back to base, so the generators will still run power while the solar is off for the night

Nice video 🙂

There's a bug that bares mentioning thou. Nothing games breaking thankfully, but it can cause you to drown in your base... Yup.

If you build a large room out of a bunch of glass cuboid rooms - as I have to house my nautilon - it's as if water leaks in, and flows in between the snap points.

Has anyone else had this? Quite likely I'm sure. But if there's a solution, I'd love to know.

I've noticed the salt can only be found in water maybe if searched for salt and star bulb it led you to a earth water planet haven't tried it myself just wondering.

I just use cube rooms to build a piwer staion. No wires need

Mate we should have colabbed! Lol. Well. I could have helped with ideas that no one else cares to know about.

This video is a nice start. But there is so much more to underwater bases. At least in whats available outside of click together. And yes, i buuld underwater land pads that gets out the character into your base every time. So none of your base is above water level. I have one at 85u deep.. thats the land pads. And you never swim.

So, it's pretty much the same as a normal base.

What's the deepest ocean you've found in nms?
