As a Christian, I have felt the need to express gratitude for those professionals that make an effort to help others with their problems. I have viewed many how to's, but what makes this one stand out is that it covers everything in a concise video - better than reading a repair manual - thank you so much.

This is the best description of what happened in my system. At low speeds, my 23 year-old blower motor would make groaning and squealing noises. Little did I know, just like he explained, this was an indication the bearings were drying up and causing the blower to draw additional power. Soon after this started all I could get was high speed. I changed both my blower motor and resistor and all is good again.

Wow now I don’t even have to look at my model specific video on why it’s failing. This explanation went above and beyond. I’ll have zero doubts moving into the repair.

Big thank I watch dozens of videos trying to figure out what may be the problem, and you took the extra step about air flow. I am hitting subscribe

I'm glad you came up with this series because this is my next step with the old truck is the ventilation or whatever the proper terminology is. I've been doing this for 50yrs+ diy, parttime, weekend warrior, a mechanics worst nightmare, whatever you want to call it, it's my hobby and I'm very humble about it.

Thanks so much! i purchased an 07 Tacoma recently and this resistor is bad, it does not appear as if the cabin filter has ever been cleaned !! But thanks to you i will also check the blower motor before changing the resistor. this same part failed in my 07 Ford Freestyle and an OEM resistor was recomended by the DIY you tuber. He said after market resistors did not work for this part, but interestingly checking the blower motor wasn't mentioned, and there is no cabin filter in my Freestyle. thanks again, Subscribed 😍

Great video. So many just focus on the resistor, nice to see the other major causes covered as well.

Another excellent video, I tend to always check motor current draw before replacing a resistor especially when they are pricey. A lot of motors are highly inaccessible to check manually.

Super easy explanation very clear how/why/when everything works. Will of course start with filter, draw, clogged hose, then module to transistor in motor/and last motor itself! Thanks So Much! If i can't do it myself go in with a LOT OF Knowledge! Great Job/ Explanation! Great Job Thanks Again!

2003 Chevy Silverado LS quit blowing cold air.Tried putting Freon in it but it the gauge was in the red.The compressor sounded like it was cycling on and off.The next morning the air was coming out cold again but when I was driving the blower motor stopped and then I noticed it only worked on High. Before all this happened ever since I had the truck the blower sometimes only worked on speed 1-4and not 5, then it would work on 5.Now it only works on 5😂Ever heard of that. Thanks for your video ✌🏼

Thanks for the video. I was able to correctly diagnose my blower issue and replaced the blower motor and resistor on my own for around $115.

Thank you so much for this video on the blower fan resister. It was very helpful for me in diagnosing my problem and steered me in the right direction to find the right parts and getting them in.

Excellent video with one slight error I believe?? By all means I welcome anyone challenging this but its my understanding that: ... clogged fans increase the speed of the motor but decrease the current draw. We see this on our home shop-vac vacuum cleaners when we block the air inlet the motor fan speed increases. Current draw on motors is closely tied to mass air flow which decreases with dirty filters. That said dirty filters can decrease the cooling of the blower motor and decrease the cooling of the current limiting resistor which I believe is a much greater issue with a clogged air filter. In other words the motor overheats due to poor ventilation from dirty filters which can prematurely kill the motor and resistor.

Thank you for sharing this knowledge with us. The logical approach as to the root cause of the problem is very critical in the 3C. Concern, Cause and Correction = 3C.
