The FIXD wireless OBD2 scanner and free app for iPhone and Android translates your check engine light into plain English so you can rest easy. In this video, we explain what OBD2 code P0302 means and possible causes.
P0302 means cylinder number 2 is experiencing misfires.
A misfire occurs when an insufficient amount of fuel is burning in a cylinder. The efficient burning of fuel is essential to engine operation as the combustion of fuel is what provides the energy to power the engine. A misfire from one or more cylinders can be caused by many reasons from a faulty ignition system, fuel system, or internal engine failure.
When P0302 occurs, it should be fixed immediately as long term driving with engine misfires could cause consequential damage to your engine. Many times, P0302 occurs when there are worn out spark plugs, spark plug wires, or a faulty ignition coil.

Awesome, this was what I needed - it was just the sparkplug

If you guys need help with the leak, take some spray starting fluid. And spray a little bit around the engine until you hear it rev, the. Just find the source by spraying a bit more towards where it's reving. Then you'll find the problem. 2000 Silverado

Thank you! I started getting this code after I suffered a coolant leak and an overheat. Never got any white smoke coming out of anywhere, and pulled over immediately after the alarm went off. So now I know where to chase up the issue.

hmmmm ....a single bad spark plug is a possible deeper issue but all the plugs bad or worn out most likely indicates its due for a tune up...where im from anyway.

why would a fuel filter cause only one of the four cylinders to misfire?

P0303 on my 08 OB when left sitting in garage where humidity is off the charts. Running rough as you'd expect on 3 cylinders. Tried spraying water around wires and coil but no sparklies. Removed the cylinder 3 spark plug tube and there was moisture around the tube. Dried it off and replaced it and all seems fine now. Will need to use some sealant on the tube to prevent moisture infiltration.

So my car started to shake and took it to autozone for a diagnostic and it came back ignition coils and 2 spark plugs. Do you think I should get that done or because more than one spark plug went I should be concerned?

I had a cod p0302 and it was an easy fix. For the number 2 cylinder, I took the coil off and the plugs out the plugs were loose the coil I changed with cylinder 4 so the problem was loose plugs. Fixed IN 15 min Ram 1500 2014 5.7 L.

Mine is giving me a p0135 code (afr sensor). Could this sensor being fried cause the misfire? It’s just cylinder 2

So your saying a fuel filter can cause just one cylinder not to fire? I have good spark plugs. Good coils, did the swap test new fuel injectors. Still no firing in cylinder 2

Question if there is a Vacuum leak why would it only affect Cylinder 2 ? Wouldn’t it be a Random misfire ?
Im thinking my problem is a bad Injector.
Because my Plugs are Brand New and the Coil for Cylinder 2 is also new.
My misfire is random but only in time it’s always #2 and I have periods when it’s fine and out of nowhere SEL comes on and there’s a slight change in idle and over a few days the light will go away and the idle gets better but not perfect.

Great full on detail video boss. I know the ignition coils, or the spark plugs aren’t the issue. Would any of the other options be causing a rattle noise when I accelerate about 2000 rpms?

Nice! Do I need to start the engine after switching the sparkplugs?
