I have installed CNG for my Alto 800 CNG LXi 2014.

Installed the CNG gas at 1, 17, 000 KMS in 2022, I have drived 43, 000 kms in CNG, Here are my observations,

1. Get regular oil changes done at every 10K km, this will improve the longevity of the engine, this has nothing to do with CNG conversion, some might say that CNG burns hotter than petrol, which is true, but diesel also runs hotter, and almost all the engine oils available in market are compatible with all 3 fuel types, so they are designed to withstand heat, trust the engineers and don't worry about it.

2. Use NGK plugs, don't go for iridium, platinum or silver plugs, change every 16K km

3. Don't go beyond 90kmph. The engine of your car is designed to run with petrol and trying to run it using CNG is a big change for the engine. Let me explain this in simple words, just imagine your petrol car is tested to run at 5000 RPM continuously for several hours, without any issues, the engine internals and cooling system is designed for that much load and temperature and let the temperature be "X degrees", if you drive the car on CNG at same 5000 RPM the temperature might go beyond "X degrees" which is not good for the engine components and cooling system, but if you will run the engine at 2500 to 3000 RPM on CNG the temperature will not exceed "X degrees" and this will increase the life of your engine significantly.

4. I have changed Petrol Injector three times during this period

5. I have faced performance lags when driving in city traffic

7. Cold start the car on petrol and drive it for at least 5 km before switching to CNG mode. Also, try to drive on petrol for 2 km before switching off the engine for long intervals. It is not a myth, it is important for the longevity of your engine valves.

I am using CNG from 2019. No problem. But currently the price of CNG is also increasing, thats the one creates confusion, why to go with CNG. I took CNG company fitted I10 cost 8.2 where petrol i10 is lesser of 1Lakh. Now CNG price is nearing to petrol price, might be hardly another 6month, where both CNG and Petrol cost will be same. 2years before CNG price is 54, Now its 88. Surely this will cross 100 in another 3month. its your decision to choose which one.

Mr Asir, I subscribed to your Motor wagon only recently. I was planning to buy a car for the last couple of years.
I had narrowed down to Brezza but waiting patiently for the CNG launch in the next couple of weeks.
I am a Air veteran, and I follow many video blogs like Asish masih, Ask car guru, Auto car, etc.. in hindi and English as well.
So far my ultimate respect was for Autocar's Hormazd Sorabjee. He was for 30 years in this field and I used to read him from my teenage days.
For me now your work comes next to Sorabjee. Respect.
I saw your program jointly with Birlas parwai s few weeks back. The amount of technical details you dealt with regarding the 3 and 4 cylinder automobiles and how the car landscape was changing was breathe taking. I was floored. I see very few tamil auto reviews. But I should say the dedication and technical expertise you bring to the channel was absolutely inspiring.
Continue your good work. A big salute to you. Jai Hind.

As usual Asir sir has explained the CNG technology in a very simple language so that the common man can understand and make a decision. This is a need of an hour review as more and more Petrol only models are coming in to market and diesel is almost out of the passenger car market so the CNG models are the only alternative for the people who drives a lot and looking for a better running cost. Clear explanation on the difference between factory fitted Vs. retro flitted after market unit. I was also expecting that you will explain the difference between LPG and CNG and how the market is shifting from LPG to CNG. Does Swift come with the CNG option?
