What is Time? Does past, present and future exist at the same time?

We depend on time for everything. It coordinates every event of our life, from cooking, to how many hours you stay at work, to the cycles of the sun, seasons, and everything that has ever happened from anyone being born and dying; happens at a certain slice or coordinate of time. The concept of time is self-evident. An hour consists of a certain number of minutes, a day of hours and a year of days. But these words in this specific order, barely scratch the surface of describing what time really is. We can’t really say that we understand something unless we know what it’s made of. In this video we'll take a look at the ingredients for time and how they interact. I will attempt to answer the question: What is Time?

Thank you SO MUCH to my Patreons!

Your contributions really allow me to feel your support. Without you, I wouldn't have taken the risk to do this full time. The fact that you believe in me means the entire world to me. It's currently just a few of us, and not enough for me to do much outside of just paying for the software and subscriptions needed to make the channel, but I hope to grow with you. In this, continue to deliver increasingly good quality content that feeds your curiosity and impacts your lives. I hope to soon be able to not take on writing gigs to make ends meet, so I can make videos a lot more frequently. Really, wholeheartedly, thank you! you're making a bigger difference than you might think.

What do you think time is? Would you want to see a part II of this video? Do you ever feel like time passes differently depending on what you're doing? tell me all of the things! 🤓❤

Time travellers beware: Wherever you plan to journey, do not, I repeat, do NOT land in the year 2020 !!

I love these kinds of topics. They really get the cognitive processes critically working. For instance, I can't help but wonder, if the past, present and future all exist at the same time, then what happens when someone dies? Do they then re-immerse themselves back into the living again, somewhere in space time because they discover they are present in all dimensions?

Fuckin kudos on this video. It has been many years since I have stumbled on a relatively unfamiliar channel on YouTube that wasn’t recommended to me because of the number of subs it had, but rather due to the amazing content it would produce. Your videos are incredible (the topics, contemplations, music, variety of backdrops) keep doing what your doing!

YES, all time is simultanious! The impression of time consisting of "one moment after another" is psychological, just a mental platform which can be hard to understand

Definitely part 2. Loved it. Time has always fascinated me. Maybe part 2 can explore multiverse theory and time, i.e the grandfather paradox and why multiverse theory answers that. There is also a scientist working on an actual time machine.

On animals and species I think it's true that time for humans speeds up as you get older for the same reasons. A year at 40 is 1/40 of your life experience as opposed to half at 2.

Sure I think time passes differently depending on what you're doing. If you're doing something you love like spending a day at a beach with friends and family in the blink of an eye the day is over. On the other hand when you're doing something you dislike an hour seems like an eternity. The older I get the more I appreciate life and the faster time seems to pass. With every passing day I find that there's simply not enough time to experience everything I'd like so I have to pick and choose the way I spend my time. These days I try to learn all I can with the time I have remaining. I wish I had this mindset 20 years ago. Great video!

Where do I find a girlfriend like you so I can have conversations like this instead of discussing the X Factor?

Just found your channel and wanted to say that even though you had to halt the project, the content you produced in the past continues to enrich people like me in the present. So thank you!

First, I would definitely be interested in a part 2 to this, it was very interesting. Second, I think time is merely something we made up. Time is too ephemeral, or our perception of it is whats ephemeral perhaps. But I have experienced those moments where a minute feels like an hour and vice versa.
One experience I had dealing with space/time, was with one of my best friends and we have no explanation for it. We went for a walk leaving our house around 9pm at night, this was normal for us to do and we walked for quite awhile, we weren't rushing just casually strolling. And during this walk after a while of taking many turns and paths we hadn't been on before, kind of exploring, we found ourselves about 5 miles from our house, not sure how we got that far away. So, now knowing where we were we walked all the way back just dumbfounded and joking about how we got where we were. We got back to the house and it was only 10pm. We were gone only an hour. It didnt make sense to us at all, it felt like we were gone for hours and our other friend was surprised to see us back so soon. It was a weird experience.

Oh hey perfect timing (pun intended), I'm about to watch the latest episode of The 100 and right now there's a whole time/space related storyline :D
Informative and interesting video by the way !
