It's because the manga chapters for One Piece are so dense they often don't need to wait too long for the manga to outpace the anime. Coupled with flashbacks that are necessary since general audiences can't remember every one-off character that comes back, One Piece doesn't need that many filler arcs. Oda also hates to take breaks because he feels he's letting the fans down. In fact, he's going on break right now for 5 weeks because of eye surgery. Despite how short that is for a major surgery, he still felt the need to apologize in the announcement. However, post Time Skip, they start amplifying the filler in canon episodes to make up the difference. Adding stuff like constant recaps and long pauses or grunt running animations. This especially hurt the Dressrosa and Whole Cake Arcs because you start to feel it.

Wait a few more arcs and you wanna watch ad commercials related to one piece

Some of it can actually be very fun. I remember G-8 fondly. Even after I found out it was filler I kept watching because I was enjoying it so much

The general set up as a journey through a vast sea of infinite possibility helps.
They're able to believably toss in short filler as they come across random islands or ships on their journey. Granted, it wouldn't be insanely harder for other series to do something similar, so they deserve credit

You'll find out, but it's because it starts padding the events of the episodes.

I think the peak is wano, when one page of the manga is stretched to like 10 minutes of reaction shots.

BTW, i sort of recognize that webtoon. I believe it is called *Secret Class.* Yes it is an erotic webtoon.

One piece having no filler sounds good, but it has no filler because it moves at an average of 0.7 manga chapters per episode. Id honestly rather have filler if it meant the canon episodes were better paced

Spoilers:

So far the only filler I’ve noticed is near the end of the Water 7 arc, there’s a few episodes there. Like looking for a missing pet and babysitting and stuff. And while they were fun episodes, they were definitely filler. Also the movies. And that weird filler that happened right in the middle of the fights in Enny’s Lobby set in edo Japan. That filler was just bad. It had poor timing as well. When I was watching it, I just saw Chopper transform into the monster, then it became Japan, I seriously thought chopper was dreaming or something.

True, but the problem is that the canon episodes themselves are stretched more than luffy

A lot of the pre-time skip arcs almost feel like canon adventures. I loved the Navarone G-8 arc! Favourite filler because it was literally the Straw Hats having a grand adventure in a Marine base facing an entire base of marines.

One piece stretches and expands on alot of scene for better or for worse it really kicks off in the timeskip

I mean, its great for the people that follow week to week, but what they do to accomplish that is just making canon scenes longer, like dragon ball and the classic endless stare downs. That becomes a problem sometimes too.

Is that a 'secret class' add i see

Yeah that's mostly because they stretch events in the story often adapting less than 1 chapter per episode giving it slow pacing. You'll realise this when your caught up or in more and more recent arcs but it doesn't really effect you when you binge episode that much.

I'm so cultured that I recognize that ad

1064+ episodes and only 87 are filler. That's less than 10% filler

They should have done MORE filler in One Piece. Would have GREATLY helped the pacing, IMHOO.

After catching up I learned that the more it went on the shorter the episodes that's why....after a certain point it would be the intro, 5 minute recap on the previous episode, the episode, then the 1 min 30 second outro...so basically they get away with giving us less the more the show goes on

Yeah somehow there’s only like 50 episodes? And I like the wild different reality things they place the characters in xD
