Why Ukraine Needs to be in NATO

As long as Vladimir Putin remains in power, it will be impossible to negotiate a "peace" deal that will be more than a temporary halt to the fighting that will allow Russia to rearm and resume fighting at a later date, unless Ukraine receives strong security guarantees in the form of NATO membership. I'm glad that idea of near future Ukraine NATO membership gets track. I'm hope this idea became dominant soon, with help of such thinkers as Fukuyama. It's sad, that NATO membership for Ukraine was dismissed by France, Germany and other countries in 2008, it was a chance to prevent the war. But we have what we have.
