After you watch this, Watch the latest video from 1972 Newspaper article with Photos!!

I had my doubts too but I was wrong, it's true. In 1972 (not 1974 like I said) $50,000 (not 70) in freshly minted pennies in an unmarked truck headed south. The truck wrecked in Henry Creek in Heflin Alabama. $45K in pennies were recovered leaving 500,000 pennies still spilled! They were left for the public to find. All were found they thought. I was granted permission from the property owner who let me detect under one condition, I show him the pennies I find, if any, since he has never found any. Well, I found some, and took them to him. I asked if I could keep one. We talked for a long time about the story which has so much more to it in person. Due to my excitement my videos skill got poor and there are a couple of black dead spots, be patient they end and more video comes on. Since then the creek has been known as Penny Creek by all the locals.

are you sure someone didn't just throw like three bucks worth of pennies in that creek to mess with people?

That's a good chunk of change to just leave lying in a creek. But that's just my 2 cents.

When I heard the chopper I thought that Treasury had sent in there recovery people. I understand they can be very possessive about their property. LOL.

My grandfather ended up loosing his favourite tool kit due to a storm and flooding about 8 years ago, and he used to still mention how much he loved it and his own father (My great grandfather) gave it to him!, So I decided to ask my mom to please buy a metal Detector and we found it far away from his house underneath an old tree branch! 😄 He was so happy!

After I did the quick calculation for how much actual work that is I realized again how incredibly annoying pennies are.

He needed to go down stream a bit cause the water probably moved a lot of the coins.
