In this edition of #thedailydoug, I'm listening to music from international sensation Dimash for the first time. He's singing SOS d'un terrien en détresse, a song originally written in the late 1970's. I had never heard of him nor heard him sing before, and I was quite taken with his talent and impeccable technique. I hope you enjoy!

Dimash is a 29-year-old Kazakh vocalist and composer; He speaks Kasakh, Russian and English and is learning Mandarin Chinese. He sings in more than 14 languages, plays 7 musical instruments. He graduated from the Kazakhstan University of Arts with a master's degree in composition and I was informed that he has already completed a doctorate in musicology. He also dances, acts and is an advertising model (he is 6.3 feet tall). He has received countless awards and honors around the world. He was recently in Los Angeles, USA, working on new material of his that his fans (he affectionately calls us "dears") are looking forward to. He is a kind, polite and compassionate person, proud of his culture and his country.

WOW!
I had never heard of him before.
His voice goes from "Johnny Cash" to "Mariah Carey" effortlessly!
I will be subscribing to his channel now!
Thanks for sharing this Doug!

I discovered Dimash 2 months ago, and since then have had to listen to him every day as many times as I can fit in. I try to listen to all his songs, but some still pop up that I had not yet heard. My daily "must hear" is Ikanaide (Japanese for Don't go), which is from the Tokyo 2021 (? might be 2020) Jazz Festival. He sings it in studio, and is wearing a handsome heather green sweater. I also love The Story of One Sky music video (the mini movie that took 3 years for Dimash to write, compose, and act in, because it was a very complex project, with movie-theater quality cinematography. It is about the horror of war, and what we must do to end war. 13 minutes plus long. It is difficult to watch, but if you realize that the meaning of the video is to choose life, it is easier. I love it and have watched it at least 100 times.

❗SOS is from the 1978 French rock opera Starmania and considered one of the 5 hardest songs to sing ! 600, 000 phone calls when he left the stage after singing it, crashed Hunan tvs system in the competition The Singer in China. 2017. Thanks for your time and effort, he's worth it !

You forgot to mention that he is a composer too. Both low and high notes were not his full range. He sings all ranges of opera from bass to tenor to soprano all in one song. Have a look at Olympico and El Amor En Ti. He doesn't speak many languages, but does sing in about 14 languages. He speaks Kazakh, Russian, English and some Chinese. Great reaction thank you 😊🙏💕

Dimash is amazing. One of the best voices in the world right now. Can sing in multiple languages, has all 8 Octaves, can hold notes a crazy long time, one of the few people in history that can do the whistle technique, etc. Amazing talent here. Hope to see more Dimash from you Doug.

Speaking of music composition, Dimash has a relatively recent music video which is 13:40 long, titled The Story of One Sky. He worked for 3 years composing the music for it and also wrote the script for the MV. It is a very moving and hard-hitting piece that you may find particularly interesting and to your liking. We Dimash fans, who he has named DEARS, would very much like for you to do a reaction to music video. Thank you for your consideration.

Buckle up. You're in for one heck of a musical ride with Dimash. He's the best vocalist of my very soon to be 71 years. He sings to the soul.

Thank you Doug for discovering Dimash. He rivals the best of the best. Someone suggested Ogni Pietra "Olympico" which was written for him by Igor Krutoy who also performs with him at an opening of an olympic event. Igor Krutoy came out of retirement just for Dimash. No matter which song you listen to you will be amazed by his talent. Thank you and cheers from a Connecticut musician.

As you come to know him better as other musicians and vocalists and vocal coaches have learned, You didn't hear his whistle tone in this performance. He has an incredible whistle register as high as a D8 as a matter of fact, but The high notes in this piece were full on falsetto in the soprano register. He's an anomaly and what would be whistle register for other vocalists he sings in his falsetto. Looking forward to many more Dimash reactions from you.

I have seen all the metal greats live. Dio, Bruce, Halford, Geoff Tate, Devin, King Diamond, Hansi, Sebastian Bach, even Midnight from Crimson Glory back in the day. I saw Dimash live in NYC at Barclays prior to the pandemic, and his ability surpassed them all. His command and control of his voice is practically beyond comprehension. Amazing.

Замечали, что Димаш часто использует образ крыльев в клипах, костюмах, эффектах на концертах. А почему? Правильно, имя его отца Канат переводится как крылья 🇰🇿

This is just the tip of the iceberg. He sings ALL genres of music. Please react to more Dimash. ❤❤❤Greetings from London 🇬🇧

Given that you're a composer, you could provide such a different analysis to Dimash's songs! Although Dimash has a very large vocal range he uses the notes he sings to serve the song.. In interviews, he will not talk about his range. There are so many choices that he makes from notes, key changes and remarkably subtle things most of us would love to hear about. PLEASE consider doing more videos on Dimash.

Одна из лучших реакций на Димаша. Человек подготовился, почитал информацию об артисте. А не говорил, что ничего не знает. И в конце дал свой подробный анализ, вместо фразы "I'm speechless". Уважаю.

He can go higher and lower than what he shows here. And he can sing anything!

Dimash is a SINGER WITH NO EQUAL - past, present, or future, male or female... HE is THE ONE, THE ONLY ONE....
