Moral of the video: Next time your hand hurts but the doctor checks your heart or lungs, don't complain.

“We have to treat the human sitting in front of us, & not the ailment they’re bringing to us.” Very well put & so true, in any profession👌🏾

You just never know. My family member begrudgingly went in for a routine physical per his employer. The NP did an EKG (all employees over 40) and said that it was very irregular, he might have recently had a heart attack and needs to go the hospital asap. She was adament and it pissed him off. He went to the ER after his wife heard the story and was admitted for a quadruple bypass that weekend. That 'annoying' exam and 'stubborn' nurse saved his life. He later apologized to the NP and gave her a gift.

You weren't just a good doctor but you were also a good person. Thank you. I'm not related to whoever you were talking about but I just want to say thanks for being a good person. The world could do with more people like that.

You remind me a bit of my doctor - I went in one day for a persistent severe headache and a bruise I didn't remember getting... a CBC and 12 hours later I was being diagnosed with leukemia. I'm forever grateful my doctor took the time to really review symptoms I hadn't even thought to bring up that day. I'm in remission now, thanks to an incredible team of doctors! I sometimes wonder if I'm that 1 in a million patient that he tells a story about to med students now!

Yup! The big toe on my left foot was gradually changing colour and going back to its' normal colour. Started of baby blue, ending up being that very deep bluish purple colour bordering on black and my foot had started going a strong navy blue colour. Foot felt like lead and my toes felt like floppy sausages with just fat holding them onto the foot itself. Went to GP, she sent me straight to hospital. I was triaged very quickly and brought into the ER. The doctors took one look at my foot and huddled themself into a corner. They went into panic stations and started making calls left right and centre. I knew I was in serious trouble. Next thing, a doctor from the Vascular Clinic was down with 5 minutes of doctors dashing to the phones and had me in a ward pronto. The femoral artery in my right thigh was completely blocked and was shooting blood clots down into my foot. I was put on flavix, nuprin and had other blood thinners injected into my abdomin. It was caused by cigeratte smoking. I started smoking at 11 yrs old and this happened to me when I was 46, (I am now 51), I was a very heavy smoker and smoked the strongest cigarettes on the market. I was ordered off the cigarettes. I was off them quick smart. I spoke to my GP when I was discharged 2 weeks later and asked how close did I come to losing my foot. She told me "You really don't want to know!" That told me I was dangerously close. Been off the fags every since.

That sounded like a House M.D. episode.
Foot hurting, but his/her heart was 'bout to explode.

When it said “ST despressions” I thought “Why don’t you just call it an STD?- oh wait, ” then laughed about it for a while.

This story kinda makes me realize how terrible my primary doctor is. Last time I went to see him was for strong pain in my left shoulder/neck area. He spent the entire time looking at his computer, never looked me in the eye and actually talked to ME, and then just prescribed me meds and sent me away.
