The Best Small Bass Amp Ever?!

As the build of my new home studio continues, I'm trying to make the most of the space by setting up one of the most effective and compact practice amps I've ever owned.

The Ampeg Venture series V3 head with the 210 cabinet is proving to be both small and mighty.

I'm also unboxing the V7 amp which will now be my main touring head with a bunch more headroom for bigger gigs.

My mom bought one kislux and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.

Love hearing you on different gear! It’s cool to see the slight changes amp/speakers make.

I’ve been fighting to love my sound lately. Would love for you to go through your process of EQing (for live performance) sometime. That’s one thing I still struggle with.

I am so tempted to replace my SVT-4 Pro with either a V7 or a V12. Also, I always wanted a 8x8 and saw that they released one. My setup sounds killer, but I need something more light and versatile.

For my practice space, I’ve been using a GK 700RB with GK Goldline 2x10. I’ve been using them since about 2006! They still sound great, but CRAZY heavy! Thanks for the video!

Love the look of that v3.

I'd love to get a head / cab set up but for what I play and where I play I can't justify it. I play almost exclusively in places that have in ear monitors so I just rock up with my HX Stomp and a DI pedal. At home I've got a Fender Rumble, which I love and works well for what I do at home but even then I sometimes run the HX Stomp to a computer and headphones.

Trying to fight and work on my previous "gear" centric thinking and stay as minimal and functional as I can. If I ever get rid of this rumble that v3 and a cab maybe the next thing though.

That setup sounds fantastic!

Im still using my Genz Benz Shuttlemax 9.2 into a Genz Benz 2x12. I've been using it since 2011, and it's been great. I just cant help but drool over new gear. Ive been looking closer at the Genzler Magellan 800 and Kinetix 800.

Your rig sounds great though, so im going to see if i can find any stores locally that have the Venture line in stock. They really do sound great!

Love your videos, Janek! Along with your excellent playing, explanations, and advice, I also appreciate the lovely cinematic appearance you achieve in your videos and I'm wondering how you do so. If you wouldn't mind sharing, it would be great to learn which device(s) you use for filming. Thanks! :)

tube amp + attenuator + little room w/ treatment = magic

i am currently searching for a good solid state head, though. good to know these ampeg's can deliver magic in a tiny room.

I just bought a similar rig. The V7, 2x10, & 1x15. It sounds great. I use the full stack with a Stingray 5 HH and the SVT voicing for one band and just the 1x15 and my P Bass with the B-15 voicing for the other. I joke that the speaker cabinets must be movie props because they're so light.

I'm considering getting the V3 to pair with my 210AV, even using two 210AV's if needed. I'm currently using a PF-20T with them but I like the feature of having a very small, very light and portable amp head with these cabinets. I had an Aguilar TH 350 which I loved but had to sell for reasons and I think the V3 might be the perfect replacement for that amp.

I’m with you. I have nice studio monitors and a good wireless iem setup, but even at low volume, you can’t beat that amp in the room feeling for guitar or bass.

I’ve been looking to move back to Ampeg for years but never really acted on it. I may just go for the V3 and a 2x10 to replace my current TC Electronic combo. I miss the Ampeg coloration and, sir, just made me miss it a little bit more :)

I used the SVT 300 Watt head (all tubes, power and pre) on the road for 21 years along with a HLF 4x10 cabinet. There’s just nothing like Ampeg.
Occasionally I would get an Aguilar rig for backline, and they’re just so sterile in comparison.

Thanks for posting this video. Very helpful.
I have 1 question about those heads.
Do they have an internal fan you can hear in a quiet studio ?
