I expect to get a ton of flack for this, but I think it’s worthwhile convo to have. So, let’s talk….

Here's my take on Nintendo as a whole: Nintendo EVENTUALLY gives the fans what they want (even when they didn't know that they wanted it). It may take 19 years (Dread, lol), but you get it. Nintendo is always thinking outside of the box (for better or worse). When a company thinks outside the box, its line of thinking and priorities aren’t like the fans, per se. That's just my 2 cents.

It’s very obvious Nintendo is making sure there is no division in this generation… And they want next gen to be a BIG leap from the Switch. Honestly, it is very smart.

It is what it is. I bought my Switch in Feb 2018. I don't play much handheld. But I'm already noticing my battery isn't lasting as long. Maybe one day I will need to buy one of these. Nintendo seems to be putting out revisions every two years. Honestly, I don't know if there will ever be a next gen, just constant little revisions, like phone models. As long as it takes the same carts, it's a Switch.

Switch is my favourite ever console. I'm happy to stay with this generation as long as they continue releasing good quality games. The hybrid nature and the quality IPs is what makes the switch great, not its specs imo

I think nextgen in my opinion is late 2023/early 2024. I feel it's a smooth transition and it's like a sony move as the switch keep selling while nextgen also sells.

I think waiting 2 years for a Switch upgrade could be a great idea. The longer we wait the more power we get, more games they could plan/have at launch.
Unreal Engine 5 will bring next-gen looking games in 1-2 years on PS5, XBsX, and Switch (yes even the OG Switch is compatible). So that's a good time for a next gen Switch.
Also the pandemic delayed a lot of games/hardware. It's possible the OLED Switch was supposed to be a Switch Pro, but they couldn't keep it under $400 and make a profit, so they're delaying the power upgrade (GPU/CPU/Ram) till later, but they wanted to still give us a new model with everything else and dropped the price $50.

I feel people has got their wires crossed between the Switch OLED Model and a Next Generation Switch and it morphed into one system for alot of people Reporting on a Switch Pro, which is understandable.

I always felt like Rob, that 2023 was the Year for the Next Generation Switch or the Next Generation Nintendo system too Release but I am learning more towards 2024 now for that Next system too come out.

The Switch OLED Model is a slightly better Hybrid system for New Comers too Jump on board with the Switch Family but the OLED Model is most definitely not a Switch Pro, it's just a slightly Enhanced Switch system overall.

Metroid is my favorite franchise. My excitement for Dread is beyond description. Couldn't care less about the OLED Switch. Regardless, I hope it sells well.

I bought a Switch this year (the Animal Crossing one because the regular was always SOLD OUT). When I look at the new OLED model I say to myself, "That's nice, I'm 100% (not 90%, not 99%) I'm 100 PERCENT getting that eventually, but NOT right now". The Switch that I have is good enough and the OLED model is fundamentally the same. BUT let me emphasize again, I AM GETTING the OLED model. That thing is SLICK. 👍 I'm planning to get it when BOTW2 releases or a bit earlier.


BUT, if Nintendo made the OLED model with upgraded processors THAT WOULD PISS ME THE F#&K OFF because I just bought one and now its obsolete? Nintendo isn't stupid, Nintendo knows their customers aren't stupid. Nintendo is NOT going to make a hot selling Switch suddenly obsolete. The Switch OLED will be a booster shot to the already high Switch sales.

I've never been so hyped then I am for this oled model but I'm huge into handheld gaming. Now I just need a Splatoon 3 Switch oled model 🙏 🎨 🖌
