The TMNT 3 Turtle Suits. Good or Bad?

They're definitely a step down from the henson suits in both asthetics and animatronics. The third movie was also brightly lit unlike the first two which used more of a dark film noir asthetics which really helped hide any imperfections in the costumes. With that said, the third movies costumes are still leagues ahead of any fan film that's been made since and hell, I'd even rank them higher than the michael bay cgi turtles.

Even as a kid, I was put off by how plastic they looked and how "flappy" their mouths were.

I was not a fan of these suits, but the samurai armor they put over them was nice. If NECA makes the samurai armor turtles with masks, I will get them.

I didn’t notice as a kid. Had this one on vhs and watched it as much as the first one. I’ll always say this was a good film

When I was younger, I'll be honest... I didn't like it at all. As I've grown older, I "get" how things in Hollywood work a little better now, so I watch the movie with reverence now because I just like the Turtles enough to welcome this part of their history. PLUS - The Next Mutation suits made me feel a little bit better about these haha

The very first TMNT produced in the 90s was by far the best one in regards to the suits. I've never seen any other of the later films because the suits put me off, looked no where near as good and I'm sure the storyline/styles of the overall later movies would also have been crap in comparison to the first. The first was just iconic! Unbeatable in the franchise!

The Jim Henson suits all day. I hated the 3rd movie. I haven’t really watched it because of the suit change… might give it a watch one of these days

I think Donnie's sad face says it all work comes with a peanut the suits for the third movie. There were two plastic and the muscle movements for two robotic. It lacked that biological feel that the first film cat. It's like they got less real as every film came down the pipe. They should've stuck with Jim Henson creature workshop. Hell they should've stuck with the original tone of the first fillm.

I was happy at the time when the third movie came out of no where with new toys. But the feel wasn’t the same at all. If the first movie was blended with the TMNT III story, I think more people would have been satisfied. If I recall not as much marketing went into that movie.

I’m probably alone on this island, but, I really enjoyed the 3rd movie. It was campy, lots of silly turtles humor and it’s in Feudal Japan! What’s not to love? Could it have been better? Sure, it does lack some of the charm from the 1st two films, but cmon’ it’s still fun.

nah i could tell even as a kid watching them, the issue is the previous turtle suits were made to look like real living creatures with clear muscle lines, veins, and all the subtle details a real human or turtle would have, so to quick switch to these more cartoony plastic looking ones was bizarre and a huge step down

I didn’t mind the change. But I did notice that the head molds were different in that title screen shot
