I think my colony just died from this. It was my first one and they weren’t a very big colony. But when I opened it up it smelled bad. They were carpenter ants.

The same happened to few days ago bro...

My carpenter ants colony is about 8 months old, doing so fine, around 300-500 workers o guess...living in a natural sand setup

One day morning i wake up, they are almost hundred of them laying outside, looks poisoned, but still alive, and keep struggling with their limbs for DAYS (but all are minors, all major seems fine, i dont know why)

Then i check inside the nest, same thing, many workers struggling, i thought it was the beetle that i last feed them that cause their poisoned case, but no, because poison will kill them almost immediately, and i saw an green-grey mold patterns directly underneath the sand where the queen and many broods and workers are living... and few days later dead bodies start getting moldy and fuzzy, laying NEXT TO THE QUEEN

Now i dont know what to do, the mold will surely spread, and its too near to the queen, but there are sands on top of them, i tried to clean it by moving the sands and the ants but the sand all crash down and will hurt and bury them... now i can only make a hole nearby where theres no visible mold and hope they will move over there

Hmmm Its been so long, im used to watching them, i spent so many effort on them... it makes me kinda sad and heart broken
