Japanese Paper Art

preview_player
Показать описание
This was bought at the Nuremburg Toy Fair in 2004. It is made by a Japanese artist called Masae Nagao, who 'likes to make things that make people happy'.

She calls it the Pe-Pet. At the time it cost US$283.

There is a central thread that holds the whole toy together. This has broken once, and needed repair, but now the Pe-Pet is as good as new!

When he was a kid, he must have been told by his mother that he couldn't buy a toy or something. Now he apparently buys everything he comes across!

I love this channel. I'm not even much of a collector, but the fact that this man has so many toys and gadgets and things he has collected for decades and finds them "extr'odin'ry" is the sweetest and cutest thing to me. and that he wants to share them all and what they do! I'd love to see him and his collection in person, it's impressive!

Am I the only one who thinks that the way that thing moves is satisfying? Like... It's freakin paper and it moves so smooth 🤗

I guess it is the time it takes to make it, not the cost of the paper. Also people get paid more in Japan than they do in China...

I like that you can appreciate art and not shy away from such a high price. Few would consider how much work has gone into it, and even less the years of training is behind it.
And if you can afford it, why not buy such a cute little thing :>

I love when he says "a few years ago" and it's always like at least 15+ years ago lmao

*Parents:* “Merry Christmas!”

*Lil Tim:* “oh boy, what an extr’ord’n’ry day to be alive. let’s unwrap these, shall we?”

*Parents:* _*hands over biggest gift_

*Lil Tim:* _*unwraps_

*Lil Tim:* “how delightful! my very own train set! It even exhausts steam from above as it propels along the interchangeable, modularized railroad tracks; whilst displaying each and every intricate mechanism within the wheel set—furthering the overall aesthetic of the real thing! nice to know Mr. Claus does in fact take into account of ones naughty behavior. However, it appears he did not have time to finish the chocolate chip cookies and milk I had set aside for him.

It looks like a beautiful pear with a face. I would love to make one myself. :D

Am binge watching this channel. It's so so amazing. And wholesome. I can't begin to imagine how big this collection might be.

I like the subject matter of these videos, the weird little devices and stuff. But I think the reason I keep coming back and watching more is Tim himself. He's just... I don't know the word to use... well, maybe "pleasant". Yeah, he's just a really pleasant guy, but very cool at the same time.

after 2 hours of binging your channel i have heard "extraordinary" more often than I ever have and ever will hear it.

Tim says it's made out of paper, but my brain keeps on convincing me that it's rubber and ancient Japanese sorcery.

hard to believe how perfectly these videos and this channel are formatted for 2021, almost 10 years ago
