Thank you! What I remember from this review: 'When in Japan, buy the paper. Buy all the paper.'
Noted.

this was really helpful! there are SO MANY brands here in japan but searching for information online is pretty limiting when the english reviews are only for brands widely available in the west.

I am basically in mourning that the original Tomoe River machines are defunct now and we will likely never get the original quality again, but this video gave me hope that there will be other options which can compete just as well with OG TR, so long as someone is willing to source it from Japan for notebooks someday.

Epic. Hand slapping ink on paper. Wowzer. I wonder how I can ink proof my desk area. 😂
I haven’t figured it out yet. Great vid. Thank you. Now I want a bottle of Ackerman ink.

You are such an enabler... I find I can get the yamamoto testing pad to Europe via the US, perhaps I may be able to hold back... You make ink look so beautiful!

Never mind those awesome papers, I can’t believe how you threw the Israel’s Zeeblauw about for how much it costs! 😂 Great video and I can see, much fun was had! Awesome 😃👍🏻

Intrigued by the Section notebook paper! Haven't heard of it before. Have been eyeing Graphilo paper for a while but haven't bought it yet but the fact that it has less show through than TR makes it even more appealing.
Biggest takeaway though was that those marbles can fall out of those Akkerman bottles. 😱 I would've tried pouring like you and made a big mess.

On the Yamamoto Paper Collection, I found quite a few of the papers in there to be impractical for everyday use. eg Many are almost transparently thin.
But if you're a real paper nerd, buy it for the curiosity value!

I've been pleasantly surprised by the Mujirushi paper products. Very fountain pen friendly, with really minimal show-through

Huh? Did you say something? I was distracted with all the visual inky artistry. Really, I internally gasped and cringed when I saw that marble come out of the bottle! Very enjoyable!

I am having such fun learning from you. All of this is totally fascinating and has completely revived my love of fountain pens, penmanship and ink. I've sent my old Parker 51 and Sheaffer TVZ for service and can't wait for their return to play. Meanwhile I've given myself a couple of early Christmas presents: bought a beautiful new fountain pen and a couple of bottles of gorgeous I'm having a ball. You are such an enabler (YEA !!!!) but I'm learning so much....thank you. C xx ps. who cleaned up all that spilled ink?

Thank you for your video. I really enjoyed it. The paper I prefer the most is Genkō yōshi (manuscript paper) sold by Masuya, though I am not sure if the paper is readily available outside of Japan.

I hope you had fun with this video. But I gotta tell you I’m glad I’m not the one who had to clean up the ink splatter. :)

While I enjoyed the video I wonder if we can order directly from Japan for those neither in the US or Japan ?
Most of the members of my FP community in my country use Rhodia or Tomoe river as standards and measure out papers even though we are sort of close to the Asian market and Japan, the price for paper is impractical ( we write a lot here with our small collection) for anything besides small calligraphy practice so I want to explore other alternatives for us here and your video helped.
Can you do future video on inks and paper used in the Philippines when you next visit the Manilla pen show ?

Perhaps my favourite of your videos! Is the Tsubame notebook the same as the one on Jetpens? Also, have you tried 68gsm Tomoe River? Any thoughts vs 52gsm?
