1:13 This part may be a little outdated. I'm told the Armored Brigades no longer exist (but don't have a public source that says it). But the Mechanized/Armored Recon regiments are all still in that Central Mexico area.

Kinda makes sense the armoured branch is using such ancient equipment when you realize their most pressing security threat is cartels and not an armoured column.

The truck mounted BAR proves this is the weirdest timeline

Mexicos army can only be used for domestic/defensive operations according to their constitution. They do not plan for foreign engagements or offensives. So this could explain the wacky structure.

Mexico's grand strategy is never threaten or annoy the US, do enough to handle Guatemala, and have a big enough force to deal with domestic threats. What they don't want is any individual force capable of mounting a coup so all of this mitigates against more sophisticated equipment.

I'm no military expert, but it would appear to me that the Mexican military is built for mobility. Mexico's terrain is pretty unforgiving and it would require the sort of vehicles that can move around freely. So agility and and being light weight is more important than heavy armor.

A bugler, a drummer, and a trumpeter walk into the barber team. The trumpeter says “Is this where we get the B.A.R.s?” It’s like ChatGPT came up with their TO&E.

The Mexican army, for example, does not use humvees because the cartels use much faster pickups, and the context of the confrontations is usually persecution, which is why the army prefers faster armed trucks. On the other hand, Mexican diplomatic doctrine has always been based on the principle of non-intervention, therefore Mexico will never invade any country, there is no risk that we will face a regular army with tanks.

I think its perfectly tailored to Mexicos threat profile: militarized cartels

I love how this chanell is seemingly getting slightly less unhinged.

Edit: Yea I just realized I said “less unhinged” when I in fact meant to say “more unhinged.”

Here in Mexico, the place where I did my military service had two weapons on display right in front of the flag, one was a M2 browning and the other was a BAR.

As a mexican, when I first watched the thumbnail i thought "wait, we have armored forces?!". And then when i finished the video i thought "oh ok, makes sense"

I guess when your nearest potential enemies are either Central American countries with even weirder armoured vehicle setups or the United States, you can get away with this sort of crap.

You ain’t been to Mexico if you haven’t seen a guy with a big gun in a pickup.

I'm loving BattleOrder's gradual backsliding from professionalism into some borderline shitpost tier content. "We're so back ACR bros" caught me so off guard

"half the mexican army is like the new call of dutys slapping a 49ers skin on a thompson" it made me wheeze so hard that im dying 😂
edit:some people seem to misunderstand the joke but basicly the joke is that the mexican armed forces are using old equipment and structure disguised as a modern one
