I just tried fixing a hinge issue on mine. Made it worse went from opening 170 degrees to 150 now. Just placed an order for the S23 Ultra and will trade this one in.

I think it's the hinge. I have a Fold 4, and when I dropped my fold (closed) a foot away from the ground without a hinge-protecting case, it caused black lines going from top middle edge to bottom middle edge, in addition to the inside display being non-responsive.

Moral of the story: Get yourself a hinge-protecting case, as it can't handle the little dings

I got rid of my Fold4 (actually sold it for the same price I bought it for used), then got a brand new S23U. S23U is so much sturdier/better in many ways (except display size). I'm usually a serial phone changer (usually 3-6 months), but I think this one will last me at least 2 years

I've had fold 2 for 2+ years daily heavy usage. No issues at all.

My wife has had hinge issues twice with her Z FLIP 4. Sammy is cutting corners or something.

So the redesign of hingle for fold 5 is gana be a good upgrade for it.

Had the same issue.. they replace the inside lcd not the outside once.. this fixes the hinge issue

fold 2 for 18 months no issues was built like a tank, got a fold 4 on launch and is at samsung repair right now. All of a sudden it just refused to open flat. wouldn't go past 175 degrees or smth. I've babied it so I'm a bit disappointed and wondering if I should go back to a candy bar. going to be painful..but potentially easier on the wallet long term

Hallo Greg. What did happen to Fold 2. I use mine now 2.5 years and 100% functional. Looks like new and use it very heavy. Just at the beach i ' m very careful to get no sand in the mechanic parts.

SEEMS LIKE ANYTHING YOU BUY these days is sub-par and the consumer is left to deal with issues, failures, and just plain garbage that won't last or work correctly over a very short period of time..

Please, please, PLEASE get a Spigen Dlim Armor Pro case. I've been using it for the last 3 years for my Fold 2 to make sure that I don't get any specs of dust from my pocket or dents like when you dropped yours on the concreat. You wouldn't believe how many times the phone can drop and still survive. By not getting one you're letting yourself be open to so many possible issues like you have been.

1 and a half year later my fold 4 is still running fine no hinge problems still never had it sent for repair nor screen protector replacement. idk how i guess i was part of that lucky 1% that got the perfect fold 4 that had no manufacturing issues.

I've had my Fold 3 since day 1 launch and haven't had any issues (touch wood 😂) They are very hit and miss with issues but I still think they're the future. I truly think if they were more affordable more people would have them. When my contract ends I'll 100% be getting a newer version of the fold. May just keep for 3 for a while, I haven't had issues and I've only heard of issues with the 1, 2 and 4. Not much about the 3. I'm very interested to see Apples eventual fold because that'll be big news

Since it's a "hinge failure", that makes me wonder if it's manufacturing defect in the hinge. I googled it and didn't see any other similar reports... hmmmm very weird.

I have had mine since October and failed to fully open. Happened twice! Samsung replaced front and rear screen twice! The second time they replaced the battery as well. I'm not happy and waiting for the third time to happen. Not done by Samsung, but authorised repair centre in UK, then Republic of Malta. Bought in Italy but I'm told it's a Dutch model.
