Isreal left gaza in 2005 and 9000 Jews left from various settlements. Gaza decided to have hamas as their leaders and this ultimately lead to their demise. To the leaders of Hamas the Gazans are like pawns on a chessboard to be sacrificed on the world stage.

It was realized afterwards that these same killers had to have intimate knowledge of the kibutz. Maps of the area, schedules, safe room locations, etc
That could have only come from the very same Gazans they had come to know and trust.
The carnage would be monsterous and varied. Families burned to death in their saferooms. Gang rapes, the victim's then murdered, etc.Things too terrible to show afterwards to the public, filmed by Hamas so there would be no mistaking what they had done.
On top of everything would be this feeling of betrayal, by people they knew.
And the terrible realization that they had never been as safe as they thought.
Many in the kibutz were peaceniks. Peace slogans were still on their refrigerators, as they fell. Many had done favors for the Gazans. Driving them to doctor appointments, , etc. Friends, they thought.
Hamas would release a video saying this was only the first of many. The new normal.

But try to remember at least one thing. Unlike Dresden, THESE bombed buildings were empty. The tunnels HAD to be exposed. But unlike regular wars, the LDF notified each one in advance to evacuate. Trust me....

The LDF would lose soldiers lives simply because this had told the enemy where they would be next. They did it anyway.
If Israel had WANTED to kill Gazans, they could have air leveled Gaza in a week. Done deal. No LDF ground troops would have died. Instead, they've lost 565 to date.
Frankly, after Oct 7th, I seriously doubt I would have been this careful. This generous. My first feelings would have been rage. And rage, like war, IS NEVER A DISNEY MOVIE.
