Rowing machines are a great way to get a good workout and see results. But how long and how often should you row for?

On an indoor rower, you can burn calories and build muscle. A good workout will make you sweat and get your heart rate up. You can row for weight loss, or to improve your cardiovascular health.

But ultimately, how long you should row for depends on your goals. So whatever your goals are, make sure to listen to your body and row at a pace that feels comfortable for you. And enjoy the process - rowing is a great way to get fit and healthy!

I have a really active job. Mechanic on my feet for about 8-10 hours a day. Usually around 12-14k steps plus flights of stairs. I do 30 minutes on the rower every morning. Usually works out to somewhere between 6-7k meters. Reasonable diet and hiking on weekends. I’m 43 and feel great.

I've been exercising for many years. One thing I've learned is you don't want to just do one thing. Rowing is great but you need to also cycle, walk, run, hike, weight lift. With that being said- rowing may be the only thing you can do without pain or injury so you do what you can.

Im 60 and probably in better shape than when I was 18. I didn't think I could keep this up but so far so good. Have to have great music which is key.

I bought a Domyos 500B rowing machine in order to recover from a severe stroke. After 2 years I am in a rhytm of rowing 6 days a week minimum 30 minutes, at least 1 day HIIT and 1 day 1 hour, General fitness has improved considerably but no specific improvements in mobility.

I was getting back into swimming. My cardio sucked. I love it cause I have long limbs and I like the timing part and nobody uses the machines. I saw an article in esquire and they had the writer rowing for his workout. He lost about 50lbs.

Bad technique for most of the rowers in video. Step #1 in a rowing regime is to learn good technique.

The Gym was busy the other morning, there was no treadmill available (what I normally warm up with), so I thought lets do an hour on the rower to see what it feels like and test my endurance, breathing/heartrate, etc, not having ever done more than 20 minutes previously. After 30 mins, my breathing kind of i was able to breath just through my nose . I closed my eyes and just kept going for it. Full pelt, no rests or slowing down for the entire hour not missing a single row. At an average rate of one row per second, so thats 60*60, 3600 reps. I felt like I coulda gone another hour if i absolutely had to. A few girls kept looking, probably wondering what i was so focused for! I had slight back ache (during the latter part of that intense hour), but that was gone within the hour. Had no soreness later in evening. To put in context, i have been going to Gym for almost a year, 4 times a week, so not a complete newbie! But yeh only normally row for 10-15-20 mins. Have fun
