Girl: hear the difference
YouTube compression: "we don't do that here"

There's a difference, not worth paying for at all though.

Honestly the first one. The high end was extremely clear

People be like: there is no difference.

You are listening to an extremely compressed file through you phone speakers of course you don't.

The Youtube Compression makes it hard to know. I didn't know microphones could get this expensive... That's Insane. Anything above $300 is a big no no for me.

The problem with using good mics is that even if the quality is better on a more expensive mic it means nothing if the speaker system, earbuds, headphones, etc. aren't capable of showing that level of quality.

Good news everyone the flooded Sony factory is back in business & C800s will be available starting 2021! The pricing in this video was based off of what I was able to find at the time. Retailers were selling them for $24k originally priced at $10k, which is what I bought mine for before they were difficult to find.

Telefunken 251 is my favorite, the most natural, smooth and very pleasing tone.

People might think I’m crazy but I actually really liked the sound of the slate microphone in the mix with your instrumental 😳🔥🔥

Ive gotten the opportunity to work aith the sony in a couple studios and it is ofcourse very high priced. But. That thing is a very responsive microphone and you get such great quality from it specially paired with great quality gear

I can hear differences. It’s subtle. With all the processing it is more difficult to distinguish them. My experience is that ALL modeling mics have difficulty with the high end.

For the kind of music you’re making and your voice, the Slate is fine. The 251 is a ridiculously expensive microphone but it does sound incredible. There’s a reason why companies like Slate are trying to model them. There’s also vintage vs modern.

NOS also makes a couple tube mics that do a pretty convincing job of modeling a 251 for quite a bit less than the Slate.

That’s a huge price difference for a not very clear difference from any of them

I went with the Sony. The Telefunken sounded good too but the Sony just sounded more controlled and well rounded overall. I didn’t necessarily think the Slate was bad (I wish I had a $500 mic) but it had a raspier quality compared to the other two.
