A Yorkipoo is a mix of a Yorkshire Terrier and a Toy or Miniature Poodle, or more rarely the offspring of two Yorkie/Poodle mixes. At their best, Yorkipoos are friendly, playful, smart, and cute as all get out. Their small stature makes them best suited to a home with adults or older children.

In this video, we are counting down the top 10 facts about the Yorkipoo that you might not know.

A Quick Overview:
Group: Hybrid Dogs
Weight: 3 to 14 pounds
Height: 7 to 15 inches tall at the shoulder
Life Expectancy: 10 - 15 years

The Yorkipoo loves people and fun, not necessarily in that order. He will delight his family and is always willing to perform tricks or show off for any visitor. His confidence keeps him from being overly snappy or aggressive; he's happy in his own skin. The Yorkipoo can be an excellent companion to anyone looking for a small, confident dog with ample energy and even greater love.

Like most of the Poodle hybrids, the Yorkipoo was originally designed to be a companion dog who could reside with allergy sufferers. The goal was a small dog who didn't have the diseases of either the Yorkshire Terrier or Poodle, both of whom have suffered from health problems related to poor breeding or overbreeding.

Both breeds are intelligent, though, and so is the Yorkipoo. Both breeds enjoy performance competition, such as agility and obedience — and so does the Yorkipoo. The Yorkie is more independent than the Poodle, so a Yorkipoo's independence depends on the temperaments of the individual parents, the Poodle parent in particular. Yorkies don't necessarily need to be on your lap, whereas Toy and Miniature Poodles are practically barnacles; with the Yorkipoo, it all depends, again, on the parents.

The Yorkipoo has low-dander, a low-shedding coat, and the small size of a toy breed. He's happy in many different types of homes and can make an excellent companion for the elderly. With his gentle and loving disposition, the Yorkipoo has proven that he can be a successful therapy dog.

We just got a Yorkiepoo about 6 weeks ago, he's the most loving dog, and so far we haven't heard his bark! He's about 15 weeks old. Very smart as well, he is a fast learner!

1:29 says it all. I adopted my Precious Yorkie Poo 9 years ago, when he was just 3 months old because I was convinced that he was "hypoallergetic" and OMG, boy was I wrong. He triggers my asthma but I refuse to "get rid of him." None the less, he is one of the best things that happened to me. He is sweet, affectionate, stubborn, protective, calm and the best friend anyone can ask for. I wouldn't trade him for any other dog I've ever had. ♡

My Yorkiepoo Gary is the best dog I’ve ever had. He’s so smart and he can light up a room with his comical personality.
Gary doesn’t bark that much unless he’s fearlessly protecting me from his nemesis the squirrel in the back yard.

Some descriptors of my 4 year old Yorkipoo, Jenny - astoundingly intelligent, sassy at times with a mind of her own but loves to please, brave but wisely cautious, a deeply and consistently affectionate little cuddle bug, heartwarmingly loyal and protective, loves humans (especially kids), gregarious and playful when in the mood but most of all loves to walk and explore, excited about new environments both social and physical; she is small but athletic, coordinated and absolutely cute as a button. Her capacity for true relationship, companionship, and complex behaviors and communications has astounded me (a PH.D. level behavioral psychologist)……..and she is much loved! She is a very conscious creature, she makes me laugh often every day and I thank the Lord that I have this amazing little buddy in my life. A true blessing!

I am the happy owner of 2 Yorkiepoo puppies! 💞I got them at 8 weeks and they are now 20 weeks old and they bonded with me immediately, even though they are litter mates. Everything you said to describe them, are true.: loving, gentle and full of life, comical and love to bark. I will be blessed to take care of them their whole lives.💘🤗Thank you for your informative video.

Yes! Mine enjoys barking but he tries not to and will pick up a toy and back through it or bark under his breath. Hahaha. So funny he is and smart as can be. Learns new tricks in 5 reps or less.

3rd Week with my 16 week old pup. He doesn't bark unless we are playing. He is a quick learner and very good with people and other dogs. I started training him right away and give him a lot of discipline and focus yet he gets to go to the did park 2 to 3 times a day. He can be stubborn but it took me 2 weeks to break some bad habits. I don't pick him up or cuddle too much as he stop listening too much during this phase of training. Overall, very happy with my boy and love this breed. Cannot go anywhere without people wanting to stop a say hi to him.
