This news outlet is dumb. The U.S. is brokering a deal. He talked to the Ukrainians about the cease fire. They agreed to some terms. So now, as the broker, you gotta go talk to the other party and work out a deal they'll agree to. Its really not that complicated.

Don't be daft. When you negotiate you need to find out what each side is willing to do and what their bottom line is. Based on Zelensky attitude it would serve no purpose to put Putin in the same space with him.
