In a sea of overpriced, overhyped 4x4s, the all new Suzuki Jimny is the 4x4 deal of a lifetime; it's about the same price as a Jeep Renegade but packs twice the offroad capability, 10 times more reliable, 20 times cooler, and you can get it in a 5 speed manual. BUT NOT IF THE US GOVERNMENT HAS ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT IT. For reasons we explain in this video, you can't buy a new Suzuki Jimny in the United States, and we break down what it would take to still get one.

I live in Colombia where the streets are small and half the roads are made of dirt. The new jimny is one of the most popular and loved new cars here, and none of them are flipping.

In Australia, Jimnys are so popular here they break sales records every year and you'd be lucky to get one without having to wait months for them to be in stock and no, no one is flipping them over here. I was lucky to get one a few months back in Ivory and honestly it's the funnest little 4wd I've ever owned. Mini 4wds are so much fun and I believe they don't want them in America because they would take a huge market share away from the competitors there because they are so cheap and reliable. Something that most 4wd's are not in America.

Actually, it’s not because the government thinks it’s too dangerous, it’s because it’s damn safe and they will outsell Jeeps, and that’s not what American brand automakers want.

Here in India I took my Jimny at 19000 ft above sea level in the Himalayas. It's a Toy every kid, boy & man will love equally. It's just super fun to drive.

The Jimny isn't the problem, it's those stupid monster trucks and suv's clogging your roads. 😮

Thr consumer report settled out of court with Suzuki. It was found out they had modified the course and vehicle setup to induce a rollover.

Even later reports were false. A jury found the magazine made false claims in 2004 but didn't aware damages.

Thank you Ford and Dodge for being sleazy...

chicken tax and café laws are the fucking worst and do not serve the American people, but rather protect US based automotive giants from competition. In no other time in our history have Americans chosen to keep buying and owning used/older vehicles in such great numbers. If KEI vehicles or vehicles like the Jimny were sold in the US, they would absolutely dominate the market, at least in the demographic of people looking for capable, yet affordable vehicles. The more you research the automotive industry, and how its molded and changed the US, the more it will drive you nuts. We would have long since had highspeed rail by now if it was not for auto lobbyist of old. Each year cars get bigger, shittier, and more expensive.

You're missing the extremely important element that consumer reports falsify their report and that Suzuki sued them in one. But at that point in time, the damage was too far gone and Suki's reputation was too tarnished. They sold him the United States until 1995. I personally own a 1994 Suzuki samurai

I have never understood how vehicle safety is justified. You can ride a motorcycle with no helmet in several states. Hell, even with full gear a motorcycle is way more dangerous than any vehicle ever made.

I bought the nicest 1998 Tracker I could find, it's the closest thing you can buy to a Jimny. Simple, light, fun and tough. CAFE standards force worse emissions, your analysis is spot on. Its the federal government, of course it makes no sense.

The laws are there to protect American automotive companies, nothing else. Vehicles despite having more airbags than cylinders, active "safety" tech and crumple zones out the ass are still more deadly than ever. Why? Well because all the tech is distracting and encourages poor behaviors. There's commericals of people clapping and playing grab ass while driving. They never cared about the planet, your safety or well being. And never will.

I wanted one of these the moment they were announced but was heartbroken when it was banned from being sold in the US

There are so many great little 4x4s available outside the United States. Between the little Samurai and compact diesel ute/pickups we here in the states are getting hosed.

we had a "smart car" rolling on the streets, that's not a good excuse.

The real reason you can't get a Suzuki is because Suzuki refused to sell any of their vehicles in the United States other than their motorcycles. Safety features not really the issue because if they can pass places like Germany and all the European countries with very strict safety rules and even Us cars sometimes have a hard time passing. Plus if you look at the crash of jimny versus a Jeep Wrangler I'll just leave it at that go find the videos

A huge truck that can kill a dozen people in an instant is legal, and guns too. But a Suzuki Jimmy?

I had a Samurai. Was my favorite surf buggy. Surf all day, hundreds of miles chasing waves, $10 of gas. Did some amazingly stupid things on sand dunes. Never rolled it. Never got stuck. Stock rims and tires.100k miles. I have no idea why someone would want a Jeep or Hummv. I wish I still had it.

I had one and drove it for three winters in northern Japan. Had a 550cc two cycle engine that sounded like a chain saw going down the road. Loved it. First day of hard winter with snow and ice on the road I safely drove to work seeing stranded others on the side.

I use a Suzuki for 10 years and never had issues or accident with them. I love my jeep and think it’s a great product for buyers. Quality/ reliability…. It’s incredible

I am lucky to have one of these (JB74, 2 door) in Mexico. Best offroad rig I’ve ever owned! I hooked it up with some airlocks and 4” lift. My fav sport now is to put those heavy overlanders to shame 😂
