what I hate about Apple pricing is the huge premium they charge for additional Ram or SSD. These are not that expensive anymore and this is pure profit and greediness by Apple.

Just picked one up for my wife. I have the MBP M3 Pro 16 because my college course require a little more power but for her major the Air is perfectly capable so I surprised her with one. She loves it so far

I just bought TODAY an M1 MacBook Air for £400, and the battery is still at 98% health. It's perfect as a secondary device when I'm away from my home office. There's no need to spend over £1000 when the difference is so minimal. My main Mac is an M2 Pro Mac Mini.

I have never seen price drops like that here in Europe. M3 Macbook Air is still 1299 Euros, M1 Air 849 Euros.

It’s a killer laptop if all you do is surf the web and send emails

12gb of RAM for the base model? absolutely impossible!🤣🤣they might give 12gb of RAM to the M4 MacBook Pro at best

I don't know if it's just me who bought a M3 Air 15" in late march, but the video says to me pretty much the opposite of the thumbnail: Get the M3 Air now with the summer (school) discounts, because of it's very big jump in graphics performance (actually this makes a big difference for the casual videographer as I am cf. M2) in comparison to the M2 while the CPU performance is just so good already, the (admittedly BIG) boost the M4 get's isn't worth it for an Air. Otherwise it's pretty clear that there won't be big upgrades spec-wise according to your videos and all the other leak-pros. So to me it feels the 15", 16Gb version of the M3 still is the way to go and then the M5 or M6 will actually be a big upgrade: perhaps a new design, OLED, ... but that's just my 2 cents and of course I am biased as a broke student who just bought the M3 Air(?)..

To what Mac is he referring to, when talking about solving the keyboard issues? I've had an M2 MacBook Air, from 2022, and didn't notice any issues with the keyboard.

It’s not 850, that device is unusable.
You even call out that potentially the M4 will have 12GB.
You need a min of 16GB and 512GB storage so by the time you add that, the device is over priced and pointless.

Avoid a base MBA

I want the M3 MacBook Air to watch YouTube videos and play games like Roblox

Either the Macbook M4 air base price will be hiked or they will underclock it to 8GB.

Apple could add extra ports on the air. But, my feeling is that they will only use the extra thunderbolt ports on the M4 pro and maybe on the higher level iMac and Mac Mini.

The problem with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD is lack of any future proofing. It’s all soldered and can’t be upgraded. If you run into programs that don’t start or crash of run very slowly, you have no choice other than buying a new laptop if those programs are important for you. OS and drivers and all the updates are eventually going to consume around half of that 256GB SSD. That’s fine if you don’t install many apps and don’t store photos and videos on your laptops. 256GB is the default for phones today and many demand more. Just be careful when buying the cheapest M3 Air. If it doesn’t meet your needs, you can’t update it. I personally would upgrade to 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD.

M4 binning might be the reason for the lower ram in the M4 iPad?

120Hz is nice but the probem is that we cannot set it to be fixed value. It's limited to certain apps. And most of the time is 60Hz. So for example scrolling in Chrome is not as smooth as it could be.

Just upgraded my laptop from a 2013 MacBook Pro 13” 8GB RAM 256 to the new MacBook M3 16GB 512 and it’s like a dream going from one to the other. I don’t know how often most people upgrade their laptop, but I use mine pretty much until they stop working. Only had to replace the battery once in my Pro during the last 11 years and now that its OS is obsolete and things like web browsers and apps don’t support it, I’m pretty much forced to upgrade.

So far, loving the new MacBook Air. Has more power and efficiencies than my previous pro and is just a beautiful, light device all around.
